I am considering buying a GTS mirror from Rare Spares (#DM1019).
Most of the genuine ones on ebay are over priced, damaged or in poor condition.

Does anyone have any experience with these, are they good quality? Reasonable value at $152?

I bought a L/H unit couple yrs ago, seemed good. I gave it to GML31, ask him if he has fitted it.

The SLR Mirrors for LX are fantastic. About $150 each. Can't comment on earlier all chrome ones. R

SLR and GTS mirrors are the same I though. OK so they sound pretty good. Cheers!

I recently bought a pair and compared it to my genuine mirror (that was damaged) and could only pick up two differences. One was on the original there was a design number underneath the mirror which the repros don't have and the other is the originals use a philips head screw to attach the mirror to the bracket and the repros use an allan key head screw. Both very minor and the mirror seems to be good quality.

My HZ GTS has Allen head screws on the original factory mirrors.

That's interesting, mine had a philips head and so does Dad's UC, maybe there was a change at some point or possibly Holden used both types of fasteners depending on what was available.

My LH SLR mirrors have the number on them and the allen head screw. Though they may not be the original ones off the car.

On the originals, allan key bolts are used to secure the two chrome parts of the bracket together, and it's a left hand thread! The phillips head screw is used to attach the mirror to the bracket which is screwed onto the door. On the repos they use allan key bolts in both positions. I'd personally replace the one holding the mirror to the door with a screw if posible because the head of the allen key bolt sticks out and looks pox!

The drivers mirror is lefthand thread, the passengers mirror is righthand thread.
The outwards rotation tends to tighten the screws, not loosen them.

the Left and Right bases are identical, the section attached to the plastic is just turned around the other way, both are left hand thread, I bought the last bolts in Holden stock 10 years ago and fitted them to both my left and right mirrors.
