Soon it you can expect up to 14 yrs for being involved aiding in the rebirthing of cars (in NSW)..saw it on tonights news..but I can't find a link.

Does that mean Ebay can be prosecuted for allowing the listing of compliance plates, VIN tags and the like?

Tried to find some current ones on ebay but none are there...maybe they got tough on it?

Does it really matter? The current penalty is ten years, but like most legislation the courts ignore community expectations and give the offenders a real hard slap on the wrist.

Scumbags doing serious gaol time for rebirthing are very rare...............if the courts did their job properly we would all be better off.

I think its currently 10 years (that may go higher) if you are doing the rebirthing....these new laws are for "AIDING" a rebirther...so its the people that sell the cars or source the wrecks....I think before they could argue their part was small in the whole operation.

I absolutely agree that people that bid on tags should be investigated.

doen't matter what they do it will never stop the backyard guy who does it himself, I have 2 SS hatches and I am wrecking 1, I must get an offer every week for the tags off the rustbucket and they are only for a L32 but no I have already destoyed the tags as I dont agree with what they want to do. I would hate to be on the receiving end myself and dont want anyone else to be either.

I am pretty sure you only get your hands cut off for serious crimes like raping a goat...that way you can't grab its horns.
