Hi all,

Some of you might remember I was getting some struts made
for my hatch door. Really good price too.

We are just about at manufacture stage, and the question has been
asked as to the weight of the hatch itself, or if it appears any where
on a label, the force required.

Does anyone have a spec on this in a parts book?

Does anyone have a little silver sticker on their hatch strut
stating the force?

If no joy, we will experiment, but I'm not too keen on sending
my hatch in to orbit if its too strong!!!

Just a reminder, the cost of a brand new strut will be about $32 on single
orders and about $26 for multiple orders.

To date only Chop seemed interested.

Let me know.

Oh, before anyone orders, let me try 'em out first in mine to see if OK.

Thank you, Leakey

Why are you getting these custom made!!
I went down the local auto shop and bought them off the shelf for about $18 each!!
All sounds a bit complicated and expensive to me!!
Still got the packaging in the shed, will have a look and get part number and brand if you want!!

If that's the case, maybe I'm no longer interested.

Wow $18 each, thats really good SSHatch.

Way better than I could find.

This chap supplies struts to a great deal of industry applications,
so they're not custom struts. Just made to my specs that I gave him.
They also have a guarantee.

The link you supplied shows $36.02 each.
I am saying $26.71 each. $10 bucks difference, $20 overall.

If you can find me another pair at $18.00 each I'll buy them!!
No money has changed hands yet.

Thanks for the advice, its little tips like these that give us all
a few extra bickies to spend on our Torries!

Cheers, Leakey

PS - CHOPPER, as the guy has one of my struts as reference, he will
still make a set for evaluation. (nice bloke) If I like them I will then
pay for them obviously. I'll mention the $18.00 specials and see
if he can do better. Sounds like old stock to me though.

Could have had something to do with the fact that I get most stuff at Trade Prices!

and as I said, that was the only link I could find online last night!
Might pay to make a coiuple of calls in your local area and see what you can come up with yourself.
