G'day all,
Those bloody reversing beacons are driving me nuts!
I live across the road from a truck driver. Nearly every morning, i get a wake up call around 5-6am.
I've asked the guy to reverse his truck in when he gets home, rather than reverse it out in the morning. All was going well for about a week.....but it seems he has forgotten.
I have considered sneaking over to his house with a pair of wire cutters, & chopping the wiring into pasta! A lack of  does funny things to the mind! :<_<:

I know the mining communities are suffering much worse than me.
Apparently there is a 5:30am symphony of these bloody nusiance things which rattle the whole town.

How come these things dont breech the nusiance noise laws?
Are they really necessary in town?

I'm soooooo tired!

Rant over!

Cheers, Col.

Sometimes when you live in a particular community you have to put up with what is considered to be the norm in the area.
Where I grew up there was a couple of coal mines to the east of us, with the associated noise and dust.
To the north was a huge chook farm with its alarms and smells. Also a bike track with its noise and dust on weekends.
To the south was a turkey farm with its particular smell.
The road through town at one stage had more than one heavy truck movement a minute, 24 hours a day.
Its just the stuff you have to live with.

Maybe you could offer to wire up a hidden switch under the dash for him?

I put a switch in my circuit so beeper only gets power when i want.

a mate of mine set his reverse beeper so it only gets power when his flashing beacon is activated... flashing lighhts are mandatory on site.

I am pretty sure that the law states you actually are required to reverse park ALL vehicles in your driveway.

Anyway.. take him over a slab for his trouble ... don't hit him col.

You are not allowed to have heavy vehicles on a property you cannot drive-in/drive-out of. No reversing allowed.
Specifically because of safety and reversing beepers. Call your council. He'll have to find somewhere else to park.

My old drill rig had a switch to turn it off so I could back out of the yard without it.
When I first took it over I didn't know, and it came back from the lekky twice with a "buzzer works fine mate" til it finally got explained :o

Col, as Rod said, some of the vehicles at work are wired through the yellow flashing light so when you turn it off (they are not allowed to be on off the work site)it turns the reverse alarm off, maybe you could drop a subtle hit to him about that.

Yeah I got 1 of them to every Tuesday morning at 5.50am
then again at 6.15 & 6.30. So gave the local council a ring
& explained the situation, responce I got from the pleb on the
counter was that it was not on & they asked if I got the rego
& bussiness name on the truck. I said sure Its rego blah blah
& the name is your council coz its your garbage truck to which,
after a short silence to think of something to say, " thats OK their
allowed to do that". Bloody double standards coz they were willing
to go anyone else to raise their revenue.

We live 1 block from a primary school & every other street is controlled
by bloody big speed humps or roundabouts xcept ours which is Stop sign
controlled & for his own reasons this driver does 3 three point turns every
time. So let it go for a while & I'm going to tackle it from a different angle.

Truthfully tho I'm concerned about the kids coz over the years seen a kid
minorly knocked of their pushy, had a Landcrusher on its side & seen countless
cars sail straight thru the stop sign at speed. Its only gonna be a matter of time
before someones killed. Plus theres plenty of arseholes that
roll up to the sign & looking both ways never come to a complete stop & carry on
thru. I dont even approach this intersection from that way as have been cleaned up
by 1 like this on my m/cycle & carry shrapnel now coz of it.

So plan now is, coz schools back, to apply in writting to Technical Service Dept of
the council to have a roundabout put in to make it safer for the kids & their mums
who walk to & from school morning & arvo. Gonna try & use the system to try &
solve my early morning beeper problem & slow these idiots down & coz we have
2 main roads at either end of the lenght our street, I've noticed a lot more trucks
& normal traffic use it as it dosnt have the humps or roundabouts. Just a stop sign
hardly anyone completely stops at.
Just hope the road crews start on a Wednesday morning so the garbo does catch on till
they've started ripping up the center of the intersection & its all tooo late. I'll get the letter
bashed out this weekend & with pics of the roundabouts & speed humps the other streets have
& see how I go.
