Ordered some Crystal Headlights 7" Round from ebay waiting for them to turn up. Has anyone seen or used these are they OK ???

100W / 80W H4 globes and LED park lights.

Dont put them in until you got relays set up on high and low beam.

yes, i have them in mine, theyre alot brighter than standard ones, mine dont have the parker in them because i combined the parker light into the indicator housing. and they look great

Rockoz already have relays set up for hi / low beam cheers thats good advice though.

Great idea putting the parker in with the indicator ... any dark pics with them on?

I have been toying with the idea to fit fog lights to the front spoiler of mine but it might look to modern ... might work as my car is not exactly original ...

Would have gone for HID myself.

Thought about getting really small foggies and putting them way back in the spoiler scoops?

Ive got crystals in my LJ.

really really good lights, look great and perform awesome.

HIDs are a waste of time and money.

depends on the bulbs you fit

Edit: the pair I purchased didn't come with globes and the reflector is like chrome ie not coloured. Don't know if they have changed lately but there was no provision for park lights and some fitted an led, others modified the indicators.

What do you meen "not exactly original"
im sure its a "genuine" 5000LJ with "genuine" LJ flares
and "genuine" Iron madeon decals.....(ie skull)

back to convensional H4'S.

depends on the application though keith, HIDs are great for floodlights and things (like we bought from you)

but Most of the conversion kits they sell for late model cars are shocking and are usually badly aimed and just make lots of glare.

maybe I should rephrase that to- "HID conversion kits for later models are a waste of time and money and make driving more dangerous for other road users"

But Im willing to believe keith he does know his stuff. (see how much I trust you even though you havent been to visit for months!

dont ask me to buy more, we are in the middle of MORE cutbacks here at work!)

Are the HID H4's a genuine HID?
I was told that real HID's are only single fillament bulbs, where as the H4's have high and low beam fillaments.

Did a bit of investigating elsewhere and found out you can have high and low beam in a single HID bulb (they don't use fillaments, rather electrodes), and you can use HID bulbs with crystal assemblies. I thought the internal reflector may interfere with them but aparently not.
Does anyone use this (HID & Crystal) combo?
Also, I was looking at some crystal jobbies for my LH (rectangular lights). I found some 200mmx142mm ones on ebay, so I emailed them to make sure they'd fit an LH and they said "I don't think so". (they were advertised to fit early Hilux's which I always thought were the same thing) I rang a mate who works for Hella, he couldn't give me a definate answer as their cataloges didn't go back that far, but the general consensus around his office was that LH's had 200mmx142mm units.
Can anyone confirm or deny this theory?

178 x 133 or so. I have chased these for years the following do not carry them
1/ Britax

P.S. Any1 that has fitted HID conversions to late models have never looked back, so
your theory Cris maybe a little out of wack mate. As for not coming to see you guys

There are alot of different things floating around that say fitting HID bulbs to a Halogen designed headlight bezel doesnt work aswell as you percieve it to, but as with everything its up to the individual.

Had them in my VS and loved them. Are they legal? No. Yet the car passed a Blue Slip Inspection with them fitted.
I aimed the headlights slightly lower to reduce the glare to oncoming drivers, and I never got flashed.
Would I fit them again? Absolutely.

Yeah, I went and checked those 200x142's out and they definately don't fit.
The Hella's in my car have part no. 1059 on the back of them, which is also now a redundant number.
Anyone who knows where to get new ones (let alone crystal) please chip in as I'm starting to get paranoid about breaking one! :blink:
