Look at the barrel that the key goes into (on the inside of the glovebox). There is a small spring loaded retainer, hold this down and the lock should come out. No? Try jiggling it a bit.

Once that is out you should be able to unscrew the escutcheon - looks like an allen key Unscrew the outside as the large inner part has a tag cast into it and locates into th glovebox lid.

I will be trying this. Does this also allow me to tighten up the lock mechanisms that are loose and wobbling all around the place?

Should do.

I think one of mine had a thin plastic washer on one side or the other of the lid but the spare hasn't. Might have to lift the latch as the lock barrel moves out too but if you be gentle and jiggle things around a bit it will magically happen.

It worked for me.

Can you buy them in sets with matching ignition barrel?

I plan to replace my ignition with a single lip UC type and don't want to have separate keys for just the glove box - I never lock it anyway it gives thieves a reason to smash it.
