Hi all,

I'm looking at purchasing some shock absorbers soon. I would like to buy Bilstein shocks but I can only find front shocks (same as HQ-HJ ???) and can't find anything for the rear.

Do Bilstein make rear shocks for LH-LX-UC Torana or is there another rear Bilstein shock that will suit?

Cheers.

I understand you can get them for the front.

Mine are Bilstein front and Koni rear.

As I'm racing my UC, now a LX to look at, I used Bilsteins from a Chevy light truck on the front and race quality Koni shocks on the rear.

The Bilsteins have been revalued to suit 1000 pound springs and the Koni shocks are adjustable.

To be honest with a street car I'd go Koni all around.

Strange, the shocks are circa 1979 vintage.... The fronts are 6380289H003, what does that decode to?

im looking at a set of theese to atm aswell.
i was told theres 2 types which can be used for the back.
state distributers
http://www.bilstein.com.au/
u need to enlarge the hole in the front lower controll arms, which the shock goes through,to clear the shock.ive been told.im still confirming wether the enlargeing goes into the

welded on shock bolt nuts.that depends on wether u have the big body or small body shock.small body shock has been out of stock since the hq.so all new purchased bilsteins,

will need clearancing

not as straight forward as just buying and installing, ive been told

ill be keen to see your price memory lane spares, compared to what i got

Yes you put it on top of the c/arm the c/arm is set up for a 36mm shock not a 50mm shock 78 mazda 626 rwd ser2 rear shock's are the same so that is the shock for the rear.

Split the top and bottom arm away from the stud axle..remove it....put the shock inside the spring...fit that as a unit...jiggle the bottom around to slip the tongues through the bottom hole...top pin in shock through the top arm hole...refit the stub....jack it up to get the nuts on it top and bottom of the stub....
Easy...well..sort of...

Pretty good...The Billys are always expensive..front and rear price separate for Billys?..I have new Konis on the rear of both cars. Might look at a new front set for mine and move those ones to front of 2nd car.
