Had to share this story with you guys....

Awhile back I was in my mates back yard moving a blue tongue lizard which his missus had thought was a snake when I noticed over the fence was a XU1 sitting out in the weather. I queried my mate who knew his neighbour and said he was eventually to do it up and would never sell... I stored this in the memory with the hope of having enough dollars to pry it off him still thinking he won't sell..

Fast forward to about half an hour ago....

I go out to the recycle bin and noticed up on the road a LJ on a tandem trailer. On with the shoes and up the drive I go, noticing my mates neighbour with 2 other fellas. (My mate lives 3 doors down. The LJ was 2 doors down) I queried if the neighbour, Roger, had bought another, then relised he had sold his. When questioned about a price they were abit hesitant but said around 6 grand. BJUCK I thought, escpecially after a fellow forumer was after 6-8 for a no running gear GTR recently. This car was abit run down but a matching number 72 lone-O-ranger XU1 with correct JP had to be better value surely... It gets worse... I relise the guy who bought it worked next to the local rares and I'd actually taken him for a run in my LJ last Sat morning. Another fella had turned up and spruiked about a XU1 for sale but had little details. Must chase that up I thought at the time.... I stood with Roger and watched the car on trailer cruise down the road while mentioning why didn't he come and see me.. and asked the all important question."so how much did you actually get for it?" his reply "$2800" ......yep I'm bleeding $2800 BJUCKING dollars.

If there's something to take from this, is if you know your neighbour or anyone else who has a torana is keep pestering..

P.S. He did take pity and give me 3 old posters. 1 mounted and signed by gricey and win percy of the '90 commodore they raced, 1 of race cars from monaro to commodore and a huge laminated holden motorsport one...

The guy had actually bought the car up in Darwin ages ago. Original sprintmasters etc etc.. I should have got some happy snap before the new owner drove off. I'll try and check out his rebuild from time to time... sniff snifff..

We've all got a painful story of those cars that got away....i feel for ya mate, nothing worse particularly when they mention "oh yeah i should've just asked you".

then on the other side of the coin theres some bastard with a grin ear to ear who's just had the score of a lifetime with a story to tell in another thread.

The sale reminds me of a verified LJ bathurst XU1 bought for $3500 in G.C by a member of this here forum....not mentioning any names :spoton:

My father sold his 1925 Vauxhall before I was born for $600. Now apparently they pull 7 figures.

I've got heaps of storys like that but one of the best was the blue A9x hatch back in 1999 for $6000.
I new a person that had it sitting in the shed for years and asked him how much he would sell it and said $6000.
Didn't have the room or cash back them

He also had a flemingo red a9x sedan but thats another story..

lol, I think i'dbe keeping it for myself, if I can get it, but you can have a look... lol. If not, you'll be first on the list.

boynuz, I'd like to know more about this blue hatch, what colour blue as there were not too many blues made in A9X hatch, and I think I can account for all of them.

Definetly keen to have a look ( have never seen a HO-L34 ). I was staring to think it was parked next to the 4-leaf clover and the pot at the end of the rainbow.

I will even offer to pick you up ( in my L34, of course ) and take you there ( nudge-nudge).

Cheers
