308 block, what model ?

I have a 308 short motor I bought a while back, the engine is a VU prefix, is it a VT Or VS engine ?

Google says. "The early VSIII should be a VU prefix"

But i thort that if it was a VT, VS or VU motor , would not it have 304 on the side of the block?

Thanks Evan, the block is down the Gold coast, so I dont have access to it for checking, it may have 304 on it. Just needed to know so I can advertise it, cheers Mate.

Same as I paid $ 650. standard bore, crank, A9L rods, pistons sump(commodore), just a short motor.

VU is the engine prefix used for 5.0-litre V8 (EFI) from VN to VS (except late VS III).

Engines up to mid-VR will have 5.0 cast on the side of the block, after that they are blank.

If you post the engine number (use xxx for the last 3 digits), I can date it for you. Better still, read the date code off the top front of the block.

Also have a brand new 355 scat crank for $450, and a set of scat 5.7 chev h beam rods also new all still in their boxes for $450. Plus a heap of other stuff that I have to go through over the next few weeks.
