Gday i am building a LX drag car and was wondering if i have to use the proportiong valve on the standard master cylinder or can i use a commodore unit with built in valve on the master cylinder. If so how much drama is it to modify? Thanks

I'm building a UC drag car. I've modified the V8 booster to accept a single circuit 1" bore M/C. The new M/C was fairly cheap. Modding the booster wasn't. Don't need rear brakes for a drag car unless the terminal speeds are between 130 and 140 MPH. Terminal speeds under 130 MPH, only front brakes are needed. From 130 - 140 MPH, rear brakes are required OR a parachute is needed. For terminal speeds over 140 MPH, a parachute is required regardless of the braking system.

If its a dedicated drag car it probably runs more rear tyre and brake than a street car
So deleting the valve means you'll get more rear brake
Can't see how that will be a bad thing as long as you don't get lockup
And yes the commy master runs the valve in the master so no need for the old ugly guard mounted one anyway
Just need to mod the booster to take that master

Split booster at join
Cut off front cannister studs
Drill front cannister and wend new studs to cannister from inside
Reassemble booster
Cut pushrod down to suit shallower master cylinder psiton
