Spray painting Acrylic and i require a 2.0mm tip
Will this one be alright to paint acrylic top coat and clear. LINK
Or this one here LINK
The problem i have, is they both say "primer gun" is there any difference between a primer gun and a non primer gun except the tip size??
i was guessing they say primer gun as they would be good as a primer gun for 2pac, as they use smaller tips.. but still are good for acrylic which require a larger tip.
Thanks for any help,
nathan

For Acrylic I would be inclined to go the devilbiss gun over the Star gun, I use a Star 106G like pictured for spraying 2K primer/putty and it's fine for spraying acrylic too, it's based on older Sata technology and are a versatile gun.
The devilbiss gun would be manufactured better and flow a lot more paint, The 2.0mm tip is perfect for spraying lacquer even though it's marketed as a primer gun. The Fan pattern on the devilbiss gun would be nicer than the Star and would atomize a lot nicer too.
I prefer the feel of any devilbiss gun in my hand compared to any other manufacturer, being left handed I find the Sata based guns with the fan control on the side of the gun annoying.
It's all personal preference but I would go the Devilbiss anyday!

I agree, these a not throw away spray guns they are the best, I had someone that threw mine out because the repair kit was to expensive Now my new one stays locked away in my Faber box for safe keeping, go for the devilblissI use devilbiss guns and love them to death, mine are the Gti Pro which are fantastic for 2K,
It's all personal preference but I would go the Devilbiss anyday!

One of my Basecoat guns is one of the first Gti guns around 1998 vintage, I've looked after it and upgraded it with current air cap and packing nut technology and it still sprays beautifully probably better than when it was new! Try getting 10years of perfect service (half of it's life being used a couple of times a day every day!) out of a $50 chinese knockoff gun!.
Devilbiss guns are like Snap-on Ratchets and Fender guitars.........gear for life!

I spoke a rep from devilbiss 2 weeks ago and told him I wanted one for mainly acrylic but possibly 2 pac, he recommended the HVLP type and using a 1.3 needle will do all paint

I use Devilbiss a pair of GTi Pros, 1.3mm
for top coat 2k and clear coats,
base coats for COB, cost price $1000 approx
For acrylic paints, I found the best needle size is a 1.8mm,
a good gun is an Iwata AZ3 HTE 18
http://www.anest-iwa...e/AZ3hte_uk.pdf
that is a UK hosted page,
but these guns are available from places like Tradetools or Glenfords for around $200.
good gun for primer, and acrylic single pack paints.
The main difference I have found with better guns over a $50 gun,
better quality seals that don't go to pieces when you clean your gun,
better quality of the finish of the parts,
which together give a gun that will give you the same quality of results every time you pick it up,
cheap gun may work good today, and shite tomorow.
Cheers
Chris.
