The last time bonnet pins were mentioned, the topic turned to safety priorities.
Do you really need them? Proper stops and correct latch adjustment should never see it pop open, and there is the safety catch........dont know how effective they are.
If you do really need them.......get ones where the pins are flush with the bonnet.....pedestrian safety.

if i hit a pedestrian, bonnet pins are probably the last thing they will be worried about!!

Sorry, never fitted them. Have seen the pin type, and another type which are flush fitting and have what looks like a Solex type lock in the guts of them.

That's all I know about em sorry.

I have fitted bonnet pins to an LH before. The pins pass through a hole in the radiator panel and have a thread so that you can adjust the height. I used the ones that slide a clip through a hole in the pins and then a ring folds over the top. I also had a steel wire that ran from the clip back through the grill to the radiator support panel as well. They worked really well.

cams asks for 2 locking devices on the bonnet, so std bonnet catch + 1 pair of bonnet pins.
the super cars just run 2 pairs of bonnet pins i think? would this be allowed for anyone then? or just a touring car thing?

Get your CAMS Handbook as the finer details vary between classes. V8 Supercars have their own rules which are set by AVESCO. Sorry, but don't have time to have a quick squiz this morning.
