I know it sounds weird, but i was told a crazy "fact" about the boot floor that would allow you to be able to tell between a standard "S" model or GTR or XU1.

So if you could lift your carpets up and take a picture of the right hand side of the floor (where the wheel sits) - ill post up a pic of my boot floor to show u where.

It's weird, but hopefully there will be only one of each model's pic of the boot floor.

thanks guys

1/2 of my car is in the boot at the moment
It is an "S", I'll keep watching here and if there is no other "S" posted I'll do it later this arvo.

now all we need is an XU1.

There you have it guys - the difference between standard "S" models and GTR models. If it hasnt got plates but the flutes are genuine (could be off a wrecked GTR or similar) then look to the boot.

At the top of the pics in the "S" models theres an extra spare wheel brace/holding thing. In the GTR's there is only the middle.

apparently the XU1's have a brass nut or bolt somewhere there. just waiting on an original XU1 boot floor pic. Yeah angle grinder but u need pretty good skills with it, the spot welds are fair

my 2 door lc has had the second wheel brace mount ground off, confused me for a little while..

Only gtrs and xu1s had 1 mount, everything else had 2.

my 6/72 GTR has only one bracket, if you look in the
owners manual the B70H13 tyre mounts flat on the floor
with the jack and tools underneath, which is why the
support is missing. It's possible that some "S,SL"
models would be missing the support if the car was
ordered with the wider rim and tyre.(it was an option)

I think my 9/72 S has none of those brackets (will confirm tonite), must've both been taken off at some stage. :fool:

gm3000 you have shed some light on why my LC 2 door S only has the 1 bracket. As it was factory fitted with gtr options (5.5 wide gtr rims, gtr instraments, gtr steering wheel and gtr consol) the car also has a genuine rear spoiler fitted that i cannot conferm when it was fitted. I believe after delivery. all these extras in a pathetic drum brake front end with a 138 red and trimatic.

cheers

Mine is 4/71 lc gtr which also has only 1 bracket, whats got me curious is the 3 neatly drilled holes near the bumper bar support bracket on the same side, maybe wiring holes for the tow bar that i took off?

Finally checked the boot of my LJ, and both brackets aren't there, looks as though they were removed but as ya can see thru the black paint there is markings, looks like it originally had two bracktes though.
