I'm looking to put the 14x8" rims back on the rear of the LX (the 7"s don't fill the flares), but first need to replace the tyres. Current tyres are Bridgestone SF-330 Eagers, 265/50R14. I'd prefer to keep the same size, as they look pretty sweet.
After some research, it seems the only choices I have are Yokohama 352's or BFG Radial T/A's.
Are there any other choices?
What are your opinions on these tyres, preference? I did some searching one here but only came up with old stuff.
Thanks guys, your help is appreciated.

I think your biggest issue will be supply & price. Take whichever brand you can find, without getting ripped off!
Otherwise if you did have the luxury of choice I would go BFG's because their solid white lettering looks tougher than the white outline lettering of the yoko's

Kev, can I get back to you on those? Sorry for stuffing you around but the old man doesn't want me throwing my cash at the torana (being in yr12 and all), I'll ask for the OK when he's in a better mood.
Thanks.

Last night I had a brain wave and sent off an enquiry to BFG. Here is their reply:
Hello Carmelo,
Thank you for your enquiry to BFGoodrich Australia.
BFGoodrich Radial T/A's are no longer available for purchase in Australia.
Best Regards,
BFGoodrich Australia
Gonna send enquiries off to Bridgestone and Yokohama now.
Cheers mate

Those sizes bring me to another question. The 265/50R14 are perfect for the rear, but having white lettering on the rear and not on the front looks kinda crap IMO. The fronts are currently 215/60R14 on a 7" rim. I want a little wider and was looking to put the 245/50R14 on the front. (yes I know there is a 215/60R14 yoko 352)
Has anyone put a 245/50R14 tyre on a 7" rim? Would it be OK? I used that tyre size calculator and it seems OK, but just want to get opinions as I've only seen this size on an 8" rim.
Thanks for all your help.

From what I gather 16" are to be avoided due to lack of tyre choice? My next set would be 17" I think. Plenty of wider tyres available there.
Cheers

Thanks scalpa. I'll see if the local dealers have anything in stock first (doubt it, but you never know), but many thanks for that. Not to be picky or anything but, you left out a 9 in their phone number, should be 03 9764 2811. Just wanted to clear that up.

245/50R14 on a 7" rim fits. You need to cut and flare the fronts though

Many of us have changed to 15' and larger eg 17" due to the shortage of wide 14" tyres.

16" are quite easily available up to 245/50R16 or 245/45R16 (sumitomo)
Wider than that, i've recently purchased 255/50VR16's in Yokohama's A008s which are a pretty fat tyre

Yep, already done mate.
Herne - Yep thats what I've seen, almost every second torana is now running Convo's! When the next set of tyres run out, I hope I have enough saved to get a decent set of rims and tyres. That'll be a while but, thinkin 17's, maybe 18's.
76lxhatch - Genius!

Cheers for the input guys, very much appreciated.

PS. Also recieved Yokohamas reply:
Good Morning Carmelo
Thank you for your enquiry
The 245/50R14 Y352 are readily available however the 265/50R14 is now a deleted item and no further stock is being received by Yokohama Tyre Australia.
The only other option you may have is to change to a 15 inch rim as there are wider than 245 available in the 15 inch size.
Please feel free to contact us again should you require any further assistance
Gonna have to hurry up if I want those 265's!!
Still waiting on Bridgestone's reply.

as for the 265s i actually placed the order for those to be made back about 3 1/2 yrs ago, they arrived approx mid last year. The boys at traction rang me and told me that as i ordered them i will have to sell them!! my advice is to get sum and store them in the dark preferably not on the ground. As what will happen is when the stock gets low the price will go to extreme levels.

hey clinto you really need to check the manufacturing date on the a008s as they havent been made for at least 7 yrs!! my advice be careful. the first numbers are the week of the year and the last 2 are the year ie; 1402 means 14th week of 2002.

Hi scalpa1 - funny that I checked the tyres when i bought them and after the 'DOT' i found LV4208 which i presume is 42nd week of 2008 ??

I just had a look at my other tyre, and bloody hell guess what i found? LV4238 !!

Now obviously these tyres werent made in 1938, so this has gotten me a little confused!
Tyre #1 'LV4208'

Tyre #2 'LV4238'

I'll be interested in what your sources say...

FYI, Bridgestone never got back to me on the Eagers, plus I have a quote from Bob Jane in Townsville for Yoko 352's in 265/50R14 for $313ea. Sound reasonable?

Hi Carmelo,
Thanks for the email on the BFG TA tyres. The 215/60R14's are not aproblem, they are in stock and are $230ea. The 265/50R14 we are currently having this tyre put back into production, in the old TA pattern. Time wise on this tyre we will be looking at late this year. I hope that this is of some help. Cheers Ben
Gonna email BFG again and try to get some answers.
