Hi There,

Just wondering the differences between LC S or SL 2 Door seats and LC GTR.
Are the frames the same ? . Can you find std 2-door LC seats front and back
and recover them as per a GTR pattern ?

I am trying to restore my car back to original and someone previously
fitted LJ 2-door seats . The back seat has no dip in the centre like a GTR so I guess it's no good .
I have also been told the LJ front seats are different on the bases at least.

Any ideas appreciated?

Yes the Sl seats can be easily re trimmed as GTR.

The Rear seat back rest requires only some foam added to the top to make the difference. Otherwise the frames are identicle.

2 door SL seats would be the same as gtr xu1, just with a different trim on them, and its not that hard to find an SL seat to make gtr xu1.. 4 door SL rears are the same too.

Actually I think the bottom half of the rear seat is different between 2 and 4 door
Square corners on the 2-door seat v's rounded on the 4 door but perhaps I could
use an SL back with dip in the middle. My present one goes straight across

Still wondering what the difference is between LJ S/Sl 2 door front and LC 2 door
besides the headrest . Anyone know ??

Is it just the bottom half ?

I want to do the same thing, i have a near perfect set of lc sl 4dr buckets and need a set of 2dr ones.
The base of the 4dr seats has all the drill and taped holes under the vinyl to take the latch bracket and bar on the rear plus the side holes under the vinyl for the 2 pivot arms of the upper half seat.
The only problem is the 2 side arms which are attached to the upper half of the seat are spot welded to the frame which requires some work to change.
I'll convert most stuff but i decided to hang out for a pr of hb or lc 2dr seats.

Hmm, i do have a near mint original biege/cream 4dr sl interior which id gladly swap for a complete set of 2dr lc frnt and rear seats. ;)

sorry i meant that the backrest seat with the dip in it, from a 4 door is the same as 2 door, the bit u sit on is different at the sides.

Ditto Verdoro on the rear seats, the 4dr sl back part of seat is identical in shape to lc gtr/xu1 only trim is different but the bottom part of seat has square corners for a 2dr whereas 4dr has round corners to allow passengers to get in and out

Ok Guys,

Here's what I have sofar "One set of LJ SL 2 Door seats"
From what's been mentioned my guess is I need

1) A different back on the back seat as mine has no dip
(Assuming the LJ 2 Door back seat BASE is OK to use)

2) Providing the LJ 2 door front seats have the same back section as an
LC , I need to obtain some 2 OR 4 Door LC front bases .

Everyone confused Yet ??

Anyone want to correct any of that ??

Cheers
David

Heres what you need:

1) A 2 or 4(only SL) door lc or lj back seat (bit you lean on)

2) LC or LJ 2 door front seats, 4 door are the same but do not tilt, hence will not suit a 2 door. Depending on if your car is LC or LJ, LC seats do not have headrests, LJ do, so you will need to get seats that suit your car.

Anything you get will need to be retrimmed to suit your car obviously.

You can change the tilting brackets over from the tilting 2dr seats to the non-tilt 4dr seats.

Are the mechanisms different between LC and LJ?

I have an LC upper seat frame on a LJ lower frame and they fit perfectly. All the mechanism bits have been interchanged without the need to persuade with a hammer. Only difference between the frames that I can see is LJ has two holes for the head rests to be mounted into.
