Best off to remove the 2pak, otherwise use an isolater over the 2pak, then prime with acrylic undercoat before top coat

tell that to most panel shops, a lot of guys are still using acrylic for small repairs, and straight over factory 2pac. To date I have also done the same and never had an adverse reaction, maybe if the 2 pac is still fresh????? now acrylic over enamel is a different story... guaranteed to stuff up....

Properly cured 2pack should be fine to paint over with Acrylic provided you prepare the surface properly.

Acrylic normally relies on a chemical bond to stick to the substrate (ie thinners biting in) whereas 2K relies on a mechanical bond (proper sanding)

If you need to paint acrylic over the 2K, just make sure you have it properly sanded and prepared there shouldnt be any issue with the paint frying up thats normally the case with Air Dry enamels or the old style enamels with hardeners.

If you want to make sure your not going to have any issues with the paint not being compatible then perhaps trying a small section of the car first to make sure but if it is genuine 2 pack paint that has been applied properly you shouldnt have any issues, more than likely the finish will be better due to a lack of sink-back that can occur painting over old acrylics as a 2K base is more stable.

i really cant see any problems putting acrylic over 2k( i havn't had any so far) but WHY would you want to?...after using 2k you will never ever think about using acrylic again..granted it is a little less forgiving but worst case scenario you block it back and do it again if you stuff up. only reason i can see is if you have real pricks of neighbours, in which case they will be whinging about the acrylic smell anyways..

i agree, no drama. why do paints fry when you put acrylic over them??? cause the thinners makes them. get some acryl thinners and poor it on your paint...it won't worry it. 2k is chemicaly hardened. it will dry under water. after its' dry its good shit.

just sand it with some 320 and go for gold.

Yes 2k is chemically hardened but it will not dry under water as water neutralizes the hardener and stops the reaction and also 2k will not harden under 14 degrees C. Just a random fact
