Hi all,

Found this little gem on ebay, really worth a look.

Part of the family of G or H bodies that the Torrie belongs to I think.
(like Vega etc.) [please correct me if I'm wrong]

Those mad Saath Ifrikaans!!! This is worse than the "widow maker".

damn.. nice powerplant.

Tho i dont know if the white paint and square headlights really do the body shape justice. I had to find a few pics online before i could convince myself I liked the body shape.

IMO, the standard Vauxhall Firenza is quite a bit more attractive, externally. Round headlights, cleaner apperance etc.

and they have a cool rear-end

If you have seen Chopper's "Vauxhall wrecker" thread, this is the baby brother of that car. They raced a Ventora in england in their V8 category that had a Holden 5.7litre Repco motor. They called it Big Bertha. When that car got written off they fitted the running gear into a Firenza and it was unbeatable in the championship. They called the new car Baby Bertha.

Hi Guys.

Basil Van Rooyan is the South African version of Peter Brock/Larry Perkins/Harry Firth all in one. He has raced & built everything from F1 to Mustangs to the Can-Am Vauxhall. He raced in 'Team Brock' in the first year of the A9Xs in '77. He finished 4th at Sandown in '77 in Brock A9X & led the '77 Bathurst race while dicing will Jackie Ickx in Moffat's Falcon. He has said to me that was the most enjoyable race of his career. He was talking about the car & the track.

He is a good friend of mine & has lived in Sydney for the last 20 + years & goes back to SA for visits. I should be able to convince him to come to the Eastern Creek Muscle Car Masters this year, he's always good for a chat.

Dr Terry.
