Hi my name is Liam, im turning 13 years old in six days, A mate a mine was saying that kids can drive at events like burnout comps etc. Ive herd many things about CAMS Licence's and I know that kids can do it, but how old do you have to be and what events can you do. I'd love to find out!

CAMS have an office in Dandenong Rd. Caulfield VIC, if you're any where near there. Regulations do change from time to time, so it would be best to speak with them direct.

Yep 14
And burnout comps have nothing to do with CAMS
They cover motorsport events not circus events (burnouts)

ive been involved with the sporting car club of SA
and they do run burnout comps,,and you are allowed to do burnouts from the age of 14 on the burnout pad
at the collingrove hillclimb club as long as you have a cams licence
you can buy a day licence for the day or i think its 80 bucks
a year and this involves cams ..so as far as were all concerned
its allowed all over aust. as we had alot of meetings with cams
to make rules and regulations for cams to open a new section of insurance for more imformation give gordon sweeny from
sporting car club of SA a call im sure he,ll be glad to help ya!!

Check out the ANDRA website as they will be the ones covering burnouts I'd guess.
You can be drag racing from younger than 14 :D

Gawd your flat out getting CAMS to talk about circuit racing! You wouldn't get an ounce of sense talking burnouts with em.

For burnouts, I really think it would come down to the organiser's rules and regs, which from the ones I've seen, vary widely.

It would all be goverened by the organisers PLI Insurer's, so don't thank me yet.

One thing for sure, anything under 18 and you are going to need a gaurdian to sign the forms prior to going to the event (i.e. I might not be home for dinner and I don't hold the organiser responsible, etc.), so you might have to be more organised than the average mouse with your entries.

My personal advice is don't beat yourself up about it too much. You can't wait till your 18 then before you know it, your 38!!!!

Lol, True, but my dad will sign them for sure. He likes a project. I dont really mind but i'd like to have a shot, even if I cant do burnouts i'd still way rather a circuit. Just some hands on would be cool.

both me and danny smith were aproached by the organisers
of the collingrove hillclimb in SA they wanted to build a pad
and start running burnout comps, drama was they are insured
through cams, wich means anything that happens in this complex
must be aproved through cams...now dont get me wrong im not
trying to promote them at all infact i personaly will not be going back
to help these paolpe again as my theory is these people are
bringing politics into burnout comps and its bulls@$t after me and danny made the trips down to the track to help design the pad ,, then we drove into the city once a week for months to help outlay rules and regulations and have numerous meetings with sporting car club of SA,and cams officials and a few burnout competetors from around the area...
when we were given the go ahead from cams they wanted everyone
to pay rediculous prices for licensing even though its a slow speed event
wich means most entrants wont even go as at any other burnout comp
ya pay fark all ya get ya car checked for grog and maybe scrutineered
and ya,r in but with cams add another 25 bills everytime ya go and then
sporting car club of sa gave out crap prises anyway theres the first thing that pissed me off, secondly they asked me to judge for them as they knew
i judged at speedway city for a while i agreed aslong as could bring my blown
tory down and do a demo run at each meeting wich they agreed to,
first meeting went pretty good i arranged a cruise upto the track on my website
and ended up with about 25 tough competetors wich was a releife as when we got there ,there was only five early entries and the second time we went i took the torana ,judged the show and done my demo burnout and both the crowd
and me loved it,the third time i get there the shows just about to start and
i ask how come they havent looked over my car yet to be told cams wont allow me to do a burnout that they need three weeks notice and it has to be on an official program that need aproval from cams before the days events can
go ahead ,,,so i went off the deepend at two cams officials ,the president of
sporting car club of SA and the scrutineers told em all to go get f@#ked
and judge there own show and left never to return....
burnouts is a reasonably low budget sport that we dont need to pay licensing
fee,s and we dont need polititcs i wish i never had anything to do do with
these idiots...and i know i never will again thats forsure!!!! :finger:

Yes, burnouts may not need cams licence and maybe free, but me, as a 13 year old, can I do it?

EDIT: Yella actully answered that question ^
And this is a three week old thread!
