help needed asap

hi guys im haveing trouble working out what my hatch is numbers on tags are lx8v77 seems to me its missing a number or letter
body number 544858m

any help would be great

G'day ACE' yeah does seem to be missing a letter.

LX 8VD77 is SS hatchback, 6 or 8's.

LX 8VC77 is SL hatchback, 6 or 8's

LX 8UH77 is SL or sunbird hatchback, 4 cyl.

Not sure about body code.

Maybe its a remanufacured plate?

Compare the tag you got those numbers off with the one in the middle - should have a number (8) a letter (D or C) then 77 and 2 more letters.

Mine is 8D77TF a space then J5numberX.

8 is the number given to GMH, D is the degre of luxury (D=SS/SLR, B=S, C=SL, G= 4cyl S). 77 is body style (hatch), T is engine code (T=308, R= 4.2, M=3300, etc). F is model year for 1976, 1977 would be G. The J5 is which plant the car was build in - Dandenong. the number is just a sequential serial number and the one to have (maybe) is 00001. X is the model - for LX. LH would be a H.

This was done using the numbers from my car and the GMH part manual so don't take this as gospel though - there are others about who may be able to help a bit better.

great boddy conition striped and ready for paint no rust in hatch or sills where they all go as we no ss intereor and dash ashtray ect i no it cam out with a v8 manual in it and the exhaust is still under it every thing is there to complete it except a motor and box
