No oil going to head

The engine (202 red motor) had been reconditioned in 1991 and then taken off the road in 1999 and has done less than 1000 miles, so it's been sitting unused for 10 years
I've managed to get the engine running to where it will sit there and idle. There is an oil pressure reading on the guage but no oil is going to the head.
Any ideas on what I should be checking?

How long did you run it?
I've let it sit there idiling for a couple of min at a time. Long enough for the oil to make it upto the head (I think) I'm a bit wary about running it too long just in case something is blocked and the bearings arn't getting any oil. I don't want to ruin the engine.

Does it rattle like noisy lifters?
Haven't really listened out for noisy lifters due to the rockers being a little bit noisy and the engine idiling a bit high as I haven't set the carbs up yet.

it does take time, 5-10 minutes to get there.
there is generally a high variabilty of oil delivery up thru the 12 push rods

The followers have a habit of bleeding when left for lengthy periods. If you've got oil pressure remove the rocker cover , grab an oil can and lube the rocker gear, start the eng. and run it at 1200-1400, and continue to lube the rockers slowly the process can take some time, i've had the mongrols take upto an hour. I would also change your oil filter as well . Let us know how you go.
Will have another crack at it over the weekend.
I'm just worried about the bearings not surviving without the oil they need. If the oil isn't making it up the pushrods is the oil making it to the bearings?

You need to make sure you have oil pressure first and stop if you dont. the top of the motor is feed via the push rods so if you have good oil pressure it should be an indication that the bearings are OK.Will have another crack at it over the weekend.

Most of the engines that I rebuild I prelube them by this method.
You can do this using an old gas bottle and put a pressure relief valve / oil feed down through the centre and an air fitting, the unit is connected via a hose to an oil port set at 30+psi til im happy i have oil.
If anyone follows this method make sure you check you oil level before you start your eng.
Try oiling the rockers if you have oil pressure.....just continue doing it til your happy that you have oil ......and if it doesn't work I guess we will all have mail

All jokes aside .....Follow the methods and it should be OK

Ended up pulling out the lifters and push rods and filling them with fresh clean oil, started her up and not so long after oil was making its way to the head. Did all the necessaries to make her run right.
Dropped it down on its wheels and took it for a spin round the block, needs little adjustments on the clutch and carbs, other than that it's seems to be all good.
