It would appear that it has finally come to an end. The Melbourne Racing Club has decided to discontinue the Easternats into the future.

Another breaking devlopment.

Speculation is rife that a rival is trying to run an event at Sandown on Easter weekend and have offered MRC more $$$ which helped lead to the termination of the permit.

Promotor of Easternats has contacted Rodney Jane to look at moving the event to Calder Park, to be held on the same weekend.

Is currently in negoiations with his legal team, talks with the government, police and MRC to retain the permit and keep the event at Sandown.

The Easternats event will happen regardless, its just a matter of where.

Acting Senior Sergeant Phil Atkins of Springvale Police said police supported the MRC's decision.

FOR FUXX SAKE! Why can't they understand that their hoons need a place to keep it off the street. That area is the worst in out side of Melbourne

It is outrageous that the event doesn't have the support it deserves, it is the best event to have in the most appropriate part of our city as far as I'm concerned.

People should not be allowed to complain about the noise, full stop. The race track was there way before the residents as Matt said. Who the f*ck would move near a race track if you couldn't hack it? Or didn't like it.

BTW They did tests and found that the announcers on a day of horse racing are louder than the loudest thing happening on a day of the V8 Supercars @ Sandown

Imagine if we protested and all drove our V8's to spring Street for a blockade! The Taxi drivers do it and get results, the indians do it and get results, old people do it and get results....

But, I bet if we did it, All our cars would be canaried and impounded! And the media would label us all "Hoons"

I wonder how long it is before a media outlet is sued for deformation for calling someone a "Hoon". They don't come out and call a murderer a murderer... They will call them "the alleged murderer"

Problem is, we couldnt trust a protest... Because there are too many "dickheads" That would tag along and totally ruin what we are trying to achieve

Well we went to the Dandenong Council meatings last time to protested with my family when they said it was gone we will not again as it was a waste of time as soon as we got outside some so called car enthusiasts leaving there car park were being dic#heads so what hope have we got. As to calder waste of time there no drag racing as its now to close to houses the days have gone for anybody with a street car as we are the ones to blame as we do the car racing and burnouts on the streets. We are the ones that have made our image bad as if we had brains next time one our mates go to do it on the street instead of going to watch and egging them on dont GO. Now i have a drag car and have modifed cars its about time its gone as then we might learn that we need to lift our image take a look at the rodders.

^^ Need good smart marketing, and a No Dickhead Policy ^^

The "Dickheads" seem to drive a certain model car as well.... I liked the idea Behind Vic Supercruz.... It was full of quality cars (limited to 300), and it did not have 400 clapped out commodores with stockies!

A "Dickhead" strives on attention.... So when no one looks at his/her boring stock car.... they get annoyed and start doing skids and try to get people to look at them! Grrrrrr

Get yourself a cool, old car and people will notice you! Do the skids where you are allowed to, and follow the same rules that everyone else follows!

Spewing I didnt win the $90 Million last night! I would have just bought my own race track! Anyone with a nice torry can come and muck around as much as they want! HAHA!

What a load of S*** !
How does cancelling an event reduce hooning ?

On the use of the term "Hoon", I hate the way that anyone with a modified car is always labeled as a hoon
regardless of how they drive.

^ Ricer, thats what I was called last night after owning an SS VT ..but anyway

Anyway the mentality is that people who go to these events typically are 18-30 year old males with a good disposable income to spend doing up there POS Monaro/Tory/Cortina/Falcon/Commodore/gemini etc.

The problem isn't Nats - its the fact it attracts so many rednecks who get really hyped up and wanna continue burning it up after the event has finished. I agree with the feeling that people should have the ability to test a car to its limits but i believe it should be to limited numbers and not a free for all.

1/4's awesome
Track awesome
Burn outs... weak
People who cheer for burn outs? OMFG uber weak

I think he means the people who do it outside / after the event.

Same thing happens here, people run an event (like we have Tassie Nats for example) and after it finishes a bunch of people congregate at the gate and egg people on to do burnouts and carry on. Some do, some don't... I personally got called weak (and worse) for not doing one, these w@nkers need to get a life and realise they are making us all look bad.

Time and a place boys and girls!
