Hi all. Just curious to know if my HQ stud pattern Weld Wheels will fit Commodore discs or will I have to get Commodore stud pattern rims?

Officially
HQ is 4.75" or 120.65mm and uses 7/16" studs
Commodore is 120mm metric and uses 12mm studs

Not to mention the offsets are different and the centre spigot hole

They fit....I wouldn't

Thanks for that info. I thought that Weld wheels being aftermarket rims would have centre spigot size factored in when making these wheels to suit various applications, & they also have optional offsets available. I'm curious to know why you wouldn't fit them if they do actually bolt on. The reason I asked this question is I have a set of Weld Wheels in HQ stud pattern that aren't being used at the moment. I want my car to be safe & reliable so if there are any safety issues or such then I'd just as soon source some other wheels. I'm fitting a BW diff out of a VN Commodore complete with disc brakes to my LH & to make it so I can use off the shelf parts such as disc rotors & pads I don't want to get custom drilled rotors etc & so the car has matching wheels all round I intend on fitting an aftermarket front brake upgrade in Commodore stud pattern too. I also wish to get the car properly engineered & registered with the drivetrain I'm using so the brakes & wheels will forman important part of this process & have to be done right.

I've had wheel studs break running Commodore rims on 4.75" PCD and vice versa. Problem is that the centre spigot is designed to take the weight, not the studs. So if the hole is too big studs get overloaded, and when they are stressed due to wrong PCD disaster can and will happen. Best way is to sell the weld wheels and buy Commodore PCD rims with correct bore to suit Commodore diff and discs.

Basically you can force them on but they don't actually fit properly. Depends on how tight the hole in the wheel is as to whether you will notice it, but by the time the nuts are done up tight the studs will be force to bend, even if only a little.

Thanks guys, you've helped me heaps. Rather than risk broken studs & lord knows what ever consequences that would bring about, i think I'll source some different wheels with the correct PCD & offset. I was thinking of fitting commodore pursuit rims for now as i have a few of them lying around, does anyone think I'll have any problems using these untill I find a better set of rims?

Hi Lee, are they the VT GTS replicas you showed me before? I'm tempted, what was the clearence around the front guards like? I'm not fitting guard flares to my Torana so I think I'm gonna have choose carefully here. If my budget would allow it, I'd fit Simmons FR 17s :spoton: They look soo hot on Toranas.

hey Matt, im pretty sure you would have to swap the 235/45/17 to maybe 225 or 215 on the front cause i think they would catch the lower gaurd, i only sat em on my car as they are commodore stud pattern and i havent changed over yet, but have a look at my thread and you will see them there, they do look good but like i said i wanna go for an old school look now.
