does anyone know how to stop the rods that hold up the roof lining from turning down while driving at high speeds?its almost like air is rushing in through on top of the lining and pushing down on it.any help would be great.

Check to make sure you boot is sealing. I learned really quickly having the boot open on the freeway (Had my bike in the back sorta) causes the headlining to come down.

takes me back
mine used to drop down at around 90mph when i had the windows down
gear lever used to rattle above this speed also
i thought boththese issues were nt uncommom

i always put it down to low cabin air presure on the lower side of the roof lining(which has a large surface area)
Rods could not withstand this

seems strange as some do it and some dont,but definitly worse with windows down

I have the same problem. I thought it might have something to do with the listing rods getting out of shape and also boot seal. I was going to get new listing rods and have a trimmer stick anchor point from the middle of the listing rod to the roof.... I am going to have to tackle this problem soon as it is frigging annoying!!!! Especially when you have passengers in the car it looks so trashy......

I was going to hand it to someone and shove cash in there face. Don't really want to touch stuff like that myself... Don't mind doing mechanical tho. I have a lining atm but i dont think it is the original.

Make sure you get a brand new hoodling or you are just throwing money away if it is done the correct way it should not go any where and use new pinch welding as for the rods coming down a couple of self tapers fixes that problem.

Glad this came up as been meaning to ask a question.
Do the bars go in the top hole or the bottom for a coupe?
Shoulda marked them as I pulled it out
Think mines been redone at some stage & by inspecting
the holes the front & mid seem to have been in the top but
the rears couldve been in both at some time.
I'll probly find out when refitting the linning if theres any
excess or not where you glue it at the pinchweld line.

hi glacier 73,When you say to use self tapers how do you go about it?Have you done this to other cars with success?I do have a new roof lining done by Dash Original in Adelaide and they fitted it.Do you know if this problem happend since factory?thanks mike.

Hi im two weeks away from getting my hoodling done because some clown used the wrong material before i owned it. i have a few bars that are pretty weak so i got hold of a good set to replace mine with the right man doing the job he says it will not drop again as for the self tapers i have a couple screwed both sides of bars near where they slot in the roof because of the hoodling dropping down at 70 mph.G

has anyone checked their sill panels?
Maybe the hole in the front of the sill (behind the guards ) has the rubber grommet missing or sill has holes in it?

dpz, has just said what i was going to say and i had a lc that had 470 rwhp and even with the rollcage it use to happen all the time untill, i found the gromets missing, by then the bars where to bent, so is use a screw on the frount side off each rod, and the new owner still hasnt had a problem.
jono, the bottem holes for the first 2 rods and then the top holes for the back 2 rods.

no not really has your window presses up againts your hoodlinning and that should be glued to your roof rib.

Only thing the manual says is "upper & lower holes at each listing
wire location allow the listing wires to be installed firmly against roof panel."
That is 1 of the front holes in the pic but going by the hole edge it was installed
in the upper 1 but thats if the wires were re-installed in the linning correctly.
I didnt have any problem previously with my linning.
I'll just take it slow & sus it out when I get to the stage of putting it back in.
