Got some new straws.
got em done by les at Fat Pipes, he did a great job.

Has anyone tried a 4 barrel manifold from ausspeed? (http://www.aussiespe...ils/?page_id=19)
just wondering because dad's trying it with a methanol 750 holly on the fj, just wondering how much or if there was an increase of performance over an older manifold such as a cain.

also a pic of the ports, never realised they were so big

SHEEESH! With extractors like that, Im not surprised the ports are huge.
Those pipes look to be top quality, would you mind letting me know what dimensions they are?
Havent tried the manifold.

Cheers.

I'd be keen on reports about manifold quality on the ausspeed as well.

I'm waiting on the new weber manifold that is supposed to be a copy of the cain i already have.

The cain looks a better manifold than the redline with regards to port size , shape and angle, but the cain i have has huge porosity issues.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the 'turtle neck' you are referring to?

A9X, can't you just get a ceramic coating on a manifold which has porosity issues?

greens nice that is a sensational setup you've got there. Thanks for sharing the photos, love it!

Hadn't heard that before, i'll take some comments from anyone in the know.

When i say porosity, i mean it looks like a cadbury crunchie

the 'turtle thing' is directly underneath the centre of where the carb bolts to, roughly 50mm high, helps direct air etc.
yeah their manifolds are a pretty decent casting. the 4bbl unfortunately did not work for dad, but i know people who had tried it and they went faster, just mustnt be suited to 8000rpm, worked very well down low tho.

Yeah CAIN have a bit of a reputation for porosity issues don't they? I remember talking to someone about that problem and I think they just suggested that ceramic coating fixes it up. I've never had enough money to get something ceramic coating, so i can't speak from experience! haha

Hi,it's a pity alot knock the CAIN manifolds and think the aussie speed ones work when aussie speed bought all the CAIN moulds and are now recasting the same manifolds but with there logo. The only cain manifold that works is the one with the 4 holes and 100 shot of nos helps.

Hi Jeff.

i know about the copy, they were up front in saying its the same mould but with some minor porting mods already done, the most important thing for me is to correct the casting quality.

There is nothing wrong with the cain otherwise.

I think i already mentioned i prefer it to the redline.

yehp .2 of a second and another useable 500 revs. ran a 7.7 1/8 mile over a 7.86 1/8 while it was still running lean due to the change in height above sea waterPosted Image . pipes used before were a very decent set of custom ones too

theres not much of an interior :D
note the shitty looking warneford manifold, with all different length runners, im getting him a redline manifold for christmas lol.
also a set of 40mm chokes to try , so 12.0 would be nice but we'll see how it goes.
will be trying to set webers up on alcohol after the february Nostalgia drags so if anyone knows anything about dcoe's and methanol please give me a hoy.
extractors were not very expensive at all.

also this is the groove in the flywheel i was talking about in the thread in driveline section, im using this on mine as well so ill keep you posted about whether it falls off or not.

cheers guys, kevin
