Since we're on the topic of carpet manufacturers in this sub-forum, I was interested in getting a carpet dash matt to protect the crash pad etc in my car. Does anyone have experiences of what works well and doesn't work well?

I want something that's black and subtle looking, so it doesn't hang off the edge or anything, but I want it to protect the currently good-condition crash-pasd from the sun as much as possible. Ideally for less than about $40...

Any recommended companies or even part numbers? Someone mentioned Rare Spares have them, what are their ones like?

The moulded style (a la std carpets) deform in the sun and roll up.
Best bet is to get a trimmer to make one up for you without the plastic backing.

Give Brett at Cruizin Car Carpets in Sydney a call (use www.yellowpages.com.au).
He should be able to put you onto a good trimmer down your way.

Grant..
