Hi my torana has a standard oil pump on it and when the car sits for a week of so on start up it takes a few seconds for the pressure to come up. i went to the automotive store to try another filter first, the guy behind the counter said try a z160 ryco thats what other guys are using on red 6s. i tryed it and problem solved it is because it only half the size of z30, just wondering if anyone else is using these oil filters on holden 6s. It is a gen3 filter.
Thanks Glen,

Hey Glen. I dont know much about the z160, but I always use the z30 filter. My 202 has always does the same thing that yours did, just takes about 2 seconds before oil pressure builds up when it has been sitting for a while. I wouldnt be too woried about it, as long as you dont rev it before oil gets to the head.
Where is the oil pressure sender located on your engine, and what oil are you running?
Cheers.

Z160 is the V8 filter
Been used on Red blue and black motors since the dawn of time
And yes you can use it on a Gen 3 too
Smaller filter... more oil pressure
But remember... not all the oil passes thru the filter... and higher oil pressure isn't always good if your sacraficing volume
Greg 82911 posted a detailed explaination of this one.. years of racing 6's he knows what works and what doesn't

Thanks,
Sender position is the same on mine, and I use Edge 25W-50.
Good points datto, but I still cant see a problem in those 2 initial seconds, if the engine isnt revved or loaded up.
If you've got some sort of kill switch Glen, you could crank it over until oil pressure shows up on the guage (I assume youve got one) then fire it up.
Just a suggestion.

Another solution is to remove the coil wire, crank the engine till you have oil pressure then fit coil wire then start.

Thanks for the info i've also been cranking engine without touching throttle or choke for a couple of cranks, then pulling on choke and touching throttle. it works well too.
Thanks,
