I'm chasing the correct plugs to fit to a bit of a mental 202.
Specs are unclear (bought like this) but it is running triples, solid cam, roller rockers, noisy timing gears, extractors, H.E.I ignition (Scorcher tweeked) and is very lumpy @800rpm.

The head is a stock (but worked) 202 from what I can make out?
http://www.gmh-toran.......c=39016&hl=

IF
BP6EFS-13 = VK 6 with H.E.I (1.5mm gap) and
BP6ES = LJ XU-1 (0.8mm gap) and
BP5FS = Stock LJ 202 head (0.9mm gap)
THEN
BP6FS with a gap of 1mm would suit this engine?

Info found on the NGK site http://www.ngkspark..../sparkplug.php#
Then click on part numbering system.

Any help appreciated.

If it's running a HEI ignition why not use the BP6EFS?

This is the exact reason for asking the question.

Both BP6EFS and BP6ES are 3/4 reach and protrude approx 5mm into the combustion chamber.

There is no problem with the protrustion hitting anything.

My concern is that the exposed 5mm of thread in the combustion chamber could make them difficult to remove down the track?

Whats done to the icompression?

If running the HEI system, you can run a 1.3/1.4mm gap if you have some beefy compression.

Higher voltage or coil discharge will let you run a bigger gap.

H.E.I ignition (Scorcher tweeked)

Pretty much standard Holden H.E.I including coil, but I think the curve has been adjusted by Scorcher.

With the plugs that will suit this head, it would be a fair bend in the earth strap to stretch it to 1.5? I suppose a gap is a gap though?

Ha Ha you edited? :D
Comp ratio is unknown.

Problems I have found with this on other models are, thread at end of head (chamber side) does not like being screwed this far first time and tip of plug getting hot in chamber being exposed with no head thread to cool it.

Most of the advise I have had with similar cars is to stick with around 1mm gap.

Have no experience at all in using the efs plug in a motor it isnt designed for, but would think that the protruding thread into the cylinder could get very hot due to being exposed into the chamber and then serve as a potential hot spot for preignition.

^ Have never had a problem yet using efs plugs in a 38 cc open chamber head and zero deck hight blocks.
Foulded the odd plug from a bit of cold start in the shed and not warming the engine enough . But have never dettd a plug yet .

So you mean in a 202 9 port head? :huh:

I have read you previous posts and hear what you are saying but this is more of a weekender street application.

The owner is a bit of a knob too so I have to make it easy. :tease:
