G'day All

Well I've managed to come across some more pics but not from the same fella the last lot came from.

These are from the Southern Cross Rally and all pics are of the same basically stock LC GTR.

However the driving lights do have an aviation theme which isn't any wonder as the driver, Tony Masling of Masling Airline Industries was the owner and driver.

Sad to say Tony is no longer with us as he was killed in a helicopter accident quite some years ago.

The driving lights were tilt operated from inside the cabin by a motor that came from the landing gear of a DC3 (Dakota or sometimes called a Looney Bird) aeroplane.

This enabled them to be adjusted when the car was travelling down straighter roads or corners.

Here is the GTR in action.

Looney bird WTF should have been Gooney Bird  and the motor to tilt the lights was the servo for the landing gear of the Dakota DC3.

The navigator for that car still lives here in town so I'll ask him if there are any more pics :spoton:

Regards ..... Barry
