The Bowdens car collection is I think the best there is and not usually open to the public, but early October it will be for 50 lucky people, I have an invite and can take a friend, cost is $149 incuding lunch and the tour will be a good one they will focusing on only their best cars and will starting and running them.

WHAT AND WHEN IS THE SOUND TOUR? This exclusive tour will allow car lovers to see the Bowden's collection, up close and personal with the Bowden family giving a more intimate experience, with each selected car in the tour being opened up from boot to bonnet. This is more of a technical tour, culminating with the vehicle roaring to life. It really is a once in a lifetime event. Nothing can compare to being there and feeling the Moffat's Mustang or Beechy's Monaro shaking the walls... imagine the sound of them running together.

The first tour will be held in our Queensland's Sunshine Coast, October 2009 and will also include one of our famous BBQ lunches.

WHAT WILL I HEAR?

Some of the cars on the list for the day include Australia's most iconic racing machinery;

  • Brock's Bathurst winning A9X's and VL Commodore
  • the Geoghegan Mustang and Super Falcon
  • Moffats '69 Mustang
  • GTHO Falcon phase 1, 2, 3 and 4
  • AC Shelby competition Cobra
  • Richards' JPS 635 BMW
  • Hamilton's Porsche 911 TR
  • Johnson's Sierra, Tru Blu XD Falcon and V8 Supercar
  • Beechey's Monaro and Chevy Nova
  • Plus a few special invite cars
  • If there is something special you just have to hear and you know we have it, please let us know.
So who would like to be my friend?

I think the only way to get the oppertunity to buy a ticket is if you purchase one of their car care kits, I believe it was only the biggest and most expensive one too, something like $250?

that used to be the way but not this time, it is only for those who have been before and shown enshusasium (a bit keen for those who can't read my creative spelling), and this time is very limited entry 50 only

So far I have offers of

Free beer
Sheep
BFL, some sort of Paris Hilton thing Best Friends for Life (kinda scary if you think about it)
Free accommadation

in todays daily telegraph

A classic 1965 fruad GT40 could be on the way to an australian price record.
the retired racer is a part of the privately owned bowden collection of ulta -desirable
road and race cars in queensland, but has just been put up for sale..

It could easily top 2 million despsite the global economic crisis. The GT40 was built so
fraud could trump ferrari at the le mans 24 hour race and got its name because it was only 40inch tall(1m)

Bowdens car is an early mark 1 with a 289cu in v8 that was originally raced before being convert for road use
It is painted in dark pine green ans comes with its original fiberglass bodywork, Chris Bowden is confident the car will top any sales record in australia, official or unofficial, including the 1.25 million paid last year for a Lotus 25 formula one car once raced by Jim Clark..

"its hands down the GT40 will beat it,For the past 15 or 20 years we,ve kept a close eye on things. Nothing ever comes on the market at this sort of numbers" Bowden says.

He does not want the car to leave australia. Its not going up for auction, but will be sold privately through the familys connections. "we're aware that we're not at the top of the market -2.75 or 3 million would have been achievable about 18 months ago..Its global value is about $2.2 million" Bowden says

well thats one car you wont see on your trip.....

there were a couple of visits recently via LS1 forum, initial visit of 60 was taken within days of being put up so a second visit of 60 was organised. had to pull out myself, but from all accounts both visits went very well and everyone came away impressed. I'd need to check the threads to see which cars they fired up (1 each visit)

Ok have heard back from Bowdens and we are in so off we go.

To answer how I chose.
I was looking for the keenest person not the first or simply I would like to go, Now I have a few mates on here that I have met and would would have chosen them if they had wanted, so i did this thread thinking whoever pleads his case the best could go. I have never met melvins or chatted to him prior to this. But after recieving his PMs and talking to him on he phone I thought nice guy sounds like someone I would get on with and his level of enthusisasm was what I liked.

I would like to add that he is not paying me anything nor am I making anything out of this.

As to how anyone else can go normally if you belong to a club that goes, or
join the bowden club look at their website or
buy one of the two larger Bowden car care packs and keep the recipt and keep an hour out on their website around jan feb

or

as in this case they have mailed out to those who have been before AND joined the Bowdens club AND are willing to pay $145.95 AND are in the first 50 to apply

Or

plead a good case with someone who is going and go as their guest and pay $145.95 for their ticket IE I paid $145 and they pay $145
