Hey guys, I fitted a aftermarket Oil cooler which has a Remote filter mount... The instructions gave the options of 2 filters one of which was Ryco Z9 and there was another which was smaller... Ive since lost the instructions but want to use the smaller filter...

I did a search on the Ryco website where you can search for filter by dimensions, So I enterted the seal/seam diameter and thread of the Z9 and it came up with 5 other filters that were the same except different heights which were:

Z115 142mm
Z170 99mm
Z38 142mm
Z503 127mm
Z89A 99mm
Z9 142mm

Thats the only info the site gives about the filters... Im just wondering what the differences would be between each? im jus worried why have 2 different part numbers for a part where all the dimensions are the same?

Would I be safe to fit a Z89A or Z170?

Cant see any problem mate, the only difference Id expect would be that the oil pressure would build quicker on startup. And thats good.

As for the part numbers, who knows. They are like you said, exactly the same.

I can't remember off hand which part no Ryco filter i am useing on my 308 but it is originally to suit hilux forunner V6 it is probably a touch bigger than the injected 5litre filter.
I have been useing this for nearly 2 years now and have had no problems with it.

Garth
