As RED states, they're the same as 308. Only L34s were different with their larger valves. Std heads can be throated out to L34 size, but its not really worth while with cams lifting less than 0.520".
Better off with VN heads if the $$$ will stretch.

thanks dave.
the $$ will stretch but then i have to change my extractoors and that cost more too.
how does it go with getting a carby manifold to suit 304 heads?

Camshaft is different as well, carb manifolds for VN heads is easy as, if not easier than for early stuff. Harrop, Torque Power, Redline all make singele and dual plane manifolds to cover virtually any engine combo.

cam is no problem also , was going to buy a new one anyways.
ive got those yella terra roller rockers to suit an 308, will they still suit 304 heads? im taking they wont.
how much for a manifold , like a tunnel ram kind of thing? $700 - $900??
when you talk about the cam lifting less than 0.520 what does that mean ?? wont the older style 308 heads lift more than that?
Thanks

While we are discussing heads, does anyone know if Holden put casting dates on their red V8 heads? l have looked but cant find any, perhaps l need to remove a rocker cover?
