Its an auto 5.0L in metallic green, trim looks different to the standard vr's, has a badge with hsv vr066 on dash, hsv build compliance plate on firewall.
Could this be advertised incorrectly or were they available as HSV berlina's etc

They were availiable on ebay a while back for about $30.
Holden made a bunch of VR HSV's, but they aren't the HSV we all know & love.
I was looking at one locally, so i done a little bit of research on them.
Apparently, you could order a brand new VR, option up to HSV suspension [or interior, or seats, or wheels] & still get the firewall tag.
They aren't any more valuable than a 5L VR.
My m8 still has his for sale. Big engine [355 or similar], manual. I think around 7k.
PM if it sounds ok & i will pass his number on.

On the GMH Build tag it says "Berlina"..
I always give him shit that it's "only" a Berlina

Got a pic. Theres nothing wrong with VR-VS 5L commodores (berlina hsv ect). The injected motors go great and VR-VS shells are still faily light to have fun with.
Must admit Inj 5l are more fun in a torana but VR-VS are great for dailys for the $$$.

If your unsure, check with HSV as they will give you the build using the number on the firewall.
They are not a true HSV, but are definately more valuable than a run of the mill standard car.
Just out of interest, the high output engine was also availaible in the VN SS series, you can tell from the outside as the V8 on the rear badge is in red and not black, meaning 185.

You could order a number of things done to any model right up to VT series1, after that it was HBD.
VN-VP for instance you could get an upgrade from the standard 165kw to 180kw, VR VS was up to 185kw, and VT was up to 195kw. Mods were a different intake, exhaust, knock sensor and chip, all external stuff.
You couldn't order the stroker engine though, that was reserved for the GTS and Senator from VR to VT only.
On top of engine mods you could get wheels, and even upgrade the manuals to hyd clutch so the cruise control worked.
Up to VT Senaotrs were based on Berlina, VT onwards are Calais. Clubsports are base model, the lights and mirrors are the giveaway
If you really want to know, get the VIN and call HSV, they will confirm the car for you

He then took delivery of car with "HSV ENHANCED" tag and genuine HSV cold air intake HSV extractors and 185kw chip if you look at the tag it should have codes for what is done to make it "special".
When i got it it still had normal holden badges on bonnet and tailgate which i replaced with HSV ones and i also kept original bumper and fitted a SENATOR grille just by cutting out the top of bumper to make way for grille.
Whenever i was asked if it was a genuine "HSV" i would just pop the bonnet and let people check the tags and then explain what i just have it was a great car and i have fond memories last of the 5 litres
