Can someone point me in the right direction to find out what all the codes mean ie: L32/34, Sl/r, Slr 5000, A9X etc?

Thanks

Different codes relate to different series, ie

LH
Model Numbers
S = 8VB69
SL = 8VC69
SL/R = 8VD69

Engine Codes
L34 = 5.0 V8 High Output
L31 = 5.0 V8 Standard
L32 = 4.2 V8 Standard
L20 = 3.3 L6 Standard

LX
Model Numbers
Sedans
S = 8VB69
SL = 8VC69
SL/R = 8VD69

Hatches
S = 8VB77
SL = 8VC77
SS = 8VD77

Engine Codes
L31 = 5.0 V8 Standard
L32 = 4.2 V8 Standard
L20 = 3.3 L6 Standard

A9X is a set of options added to a SL/R or SS. Standard motor is L31.

Thanks for that.

So what does say a LH with a L31 have different between the models

ie: what does the slr have over the sl, what does the sl have over the s etc.

The 5000 bit is just a sticker that some l31 slr had? didn't mean anything extra done to the car?

Thanks again.

All L31 SLR's are SLR5000's, 5000 is for 5000cc or 308 c inches. You could get an SLR in a 202 or a 253, but if you wanted a 308, you had to buy an SLR5000. In the LH range the SLR was the same to look at as the SLR5000, except the 5000 had front and rear spoilers ans decals on the front guards and rear spoiler, while the SLR had badges depending on engine size.

LX SLR's looked nothing like the5000. The 5000 had the paintouts SLR5000 down the sides and across the rear spoiler.

Each model had different levels of trim.

If you want to know more about this the Spotlight On Holden Torana LH-LX has lots of info.

It also has info on deciphering the VIN codes so you can spot the replicars.

The 3.3, 4.2 and 5.0 SL/R all had front and rear spoilers. As REDA9X said the decals and badge work differed for each.

There are also slight differences in the blackouts between the SL/R, SL/R 5000, and L34, particularly the door sills, rear quarters, and lower front guards/nosecone.

The 3.3, 4.2 and 5.0 SL/R all had front and rear spoilers.

Are you sure about that?

I read here only the 5000's had the spoilers.

The LX SLR 5000 also had the SS type front spoiler right?

3.3 SLR's had a metal SL/R badge on the rear and the 4.2's had the badges on the front fenders - no badge on rear. The 5000's didn't have the metal SL/R badges.

Only the SLR 5000 had front and rear spoilers standard. The rear spoiler is the same on LH and LX. The front spoiler on the LH is a 2 piece deep item, the LX is one piece and not as deep sna yes it was used on the SS as well.
