Wouldn't have helped her that along that side someone in her past had once done a repair by just welding a new section straight over old rusty/damaged section then bogged over everything drain holes and all

This car isn't a torana, but a 1963 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door hardtop. It's a friends car I'm restoring/modifying. It's from a cold state of the US where they salt the roads, so it's a real mess.
The outside doesn't look too bad, until you get close : )
When I lifted the body off the chassis, well, there wasn't really a chassis left there : )
Once the body was on the rotisserie the severity of the rust became obvious. This is the inner sill where the chassis rail used to sit.
This is the inner sill on the inside of the rear quarter panel.
All the grey areas are where I've added new metal. There's still the back end to do yet : ( And the other side......
Here's the back of the floor done, and the wheel tube widened 100mm to fit the 20x16 wheels bought for this project.
Of course the front and rear of the inner tub were rusted and needed replacing, and so did the entire inner lip. I made and fitted the new lip and fixed the rest of the rust before the new rear quarter went on, although it's not all fixed in this pic.
A bit of a clean up and some stoneguard and the underside looks like a car again. Amazing.
Now I need to say how much welding it took to get the new lower skin on. The rear quarter on this car, from the rear of the door jam, to where the tail lights mount, not including the tail lights, is 2.54 metres. This car is bloody HUUUUUGE. In fact, the body with nothing forward of the firewall is still a bit longer than my brothers UC hatch. The owner bought new outer sills, but they were terrible and too short??? so I made new ones instead.
All the hanging panels are stuffed as well. I've done the metal work on the boot. It was badly dented and has so much bog in it that it had cracked, let in moisture and rusted the top of the boot skin out. Plus the whole lower edge was gone as well.
I replace the inner and outer lower edge of the boot, then used the english wheel to roll up a new section of the outer skin. The rear edge of the boot skin had big indents where trim bolted on (just visible in the photo), so I made a new skin that didn't have the indents, and the trim isn't going back on.
To give you some indication as to the size of this bootlid, I used half a sheet of 1200mm x 2400mm x 1mm zincaneal, just to do the repairs on the bootlid.
This is just the tip of the iceberg with this car, so be glad you're not me : )

Not the only one with the rusty towers mate
Do you have any pics of the repair being done? Mostly the inner part in the wheel arch. Thanks
