Hey guys, Ive got the lower half section for my LH which is near on perfect, is only a crack just above where the steering rack is... can see it easy in the pic but If I like push it back together it becomes near on invisible...

So im just wondering what would be best to use to join it back together? Glue, fiberglass, plastic welding?

And should I put some sort of bracing on the rear?

I was thinking maybe something like arldyte (spelling?) with a small metal peice bridging the gap for strength?

i d just push it together with some super glue( rekon the sellys gel supa glue is the go)
then just araldite underneath (maybe add some fiberglass tape
or perhaps some thin sheet metal, say cut from a milo can or something)
rough up the underneath surface first with some coarse sandpaper
or something to provide a key for the glue

ZAP Superglue (Cyanoacrylates) used with ZAP Zip Kicker is impressive. The glue is available in a range of viscosities. Superthin, Medium and Gel.

ZAP

You will find it in hobby shops. Experiment with gluing some other plastics first.

I think if you scuff up the area where you glue, Araldite and a small brace is a good idea

You cant see the top from waht i gather, so personally i would glue it together, then drill and pop rivet a small piece of metal under the lip, shouldent be able to see the pop rivets, will make it super strong, make sure that it wont foul on anything.

Cheers.

I found a glue specifically for interior plastic, I was a little sceptical at first as we know alot of glues snap off, well I used it to glue a GPS bracket to an air vent, boy it is stuck.
I recommend this stuff with a small brace inside.

permatex plastic weld

what ever you use..a tiny bit in the crack...place it together quickly and place some tape on the top side and glue underneath...works best on the dashes i have fixed.

after its set you pull the tape off and its a nice flush finish...you wouldn't know
