Guys,I need advice on which Thermo Fan Controller would be best to control my twin AU Fans on the LX??,theres the SPAL unit or the DRIFT brand ThermoFan Controller

DRIFT CONTROLLER

SPAL CONTROLLER

I dont know if the "Drift" fan controller can be used with twin fans like the AU and dont know the price exactly but do know its cheaper than the SPAL unit!.

The "SPAL" Fan Controller I got quoted $286.00!( kit with sensor, harness etc) today at Browns Radiators over here in Perth but in the link says not to use that specific Spal Controller( newest, version 3) if the fans draw 30 amps or more and from memory the AU Fans do?

Yeh but if it could control both fans properly and is cheaper then I dont care if it looks "Ricey" as its just there to controll the fans

I have one but seems to play silly buggers!? yesterday and today it was making the fans come on at 105c then turning them off again at 100c!? whereas it use to turn them on at 100c and keep the fans going until temp dropped to 70-80 c so I dont know what the problem is? the radiator shop said it was unusual as they usually just work or dont work ,no inbetween............

Maybe replace the temp switch with another and make sure you have an override.

Also, the dash temperature guage sensor is normally in the block and the fan sensor is generally fitted to the radiator. This may explain variance due to ambient temp.

I have AU fans and 5 core setup and there is only one word for it...FANTASTIC!!

where is you sender for the fans?? Are you running a overflow system so the rad is always full to the top.Any air in the system(if your using "dump to the ground")can stuff with the switch especially if its in the rad.

Gauge 100% accurate??

Try another switch maybe.

Pretty sure the gauge is fine, yes running a standard overflow system,Fan Sensor is in the top radiator tank and not using standard crappy gauge: I'm running an aftermarket gauge, something odd been going on for ages too the coolant in the overflow tank seems to dissapear after one or two drives!? I cant see any leaks anywhere!?,heads + Head Gaskets were done a year or two ago and the cars has had little use at all.

It had this prob before the heads where done too?,I took her out for a quick run yesterday ,got home topped up the overflow and left it,its done no more driving since yesterday and ive just now looked and the overflow tank is half empty!!!???? so overnight its drank half the overflow?. I can see no leaks anywhere or white coolant stains to indicate a leak, even at the back of the heads. Oil looks fine as does coolant so I have no idea where its going? unless theres a prob on the intake manifold somewhere...........

I would expect your overflow to drop as things cool down...mine does. But it should also go up once everything is hot to.

yep, always check at the same temp,so first thing in the morning and then recheck it after youve driven it when its cold again.Your not filling the overflow too much when its cold??as it may pump it on the ground as it fills and then of course when you recheck it lost some.
