Stole this from another site, thanks to the commodore guys over at Bertie Street.

Interesting and good fun, but hardly accurate.

The VK video started first by quite a bit, but the VE had all but caught up by the end of mountain straight. Then the VK video had a bit chopped out over the top which caused it to jump well ahead again coming onto conrod straight.

I don't think it was intended to be a speed comparison but I'm sure plenty of people will take it that way

love the ute time.

We did 2.42.15 in the hatch at Drive Bathurst 2 years ago, first day, in the wet, on used rubber, without top gear on conrod.

I love the place.

Thats a bit harsh on Skaifey isn't it?

You can't compare any one to Brocky in terms of time he gave to the fans.

Remember towards the end of his career he was not only a driver but a team owner too.

He may still be a w@nker but you can't base that judgement on whether he gave as much time to the fans as Brocky.

I'm off to watch the vid now, should be good.

he was still the same when he was a driver, not owning a team, never had time even when your holding a 3 month old baby asking to sign his race suit, just keeped walking, unless your a lady with your t^^s half hanging out you got a chance

Never had a problem with Skaifey, all the times Ive met him/bumped into him he has always been polite and willing to sign stuff (even at the shops or the speedway)

That said, you cant always stop for every person, and once you sign one thing, you sign a hundred before the fans let you leave without feeling like a wanker.

Many directions does this thread take!
however of note is the last lap of the lead torana in the great race of 1979 was only 12 seconds slower than godzolla's effort 12 years later.
the advancements in racing jumped massivly in that 12 years in every aspect!!
a second a year doesnt seem consistent with what the 380hp torana had and what the twin turbo awd skyline had!

In the hardies hero's top 10, 1979, Brock did a 2.20.5 ... even after a rare mistake through the cutting... Might have been the first 100mph lap around the circuit if not for that error that almost had him almost hit the wall and come to a near complete stop.Youtube vid of the lap, Gold

It would be interesting if Brocky was only in his 20's now and racing in V8 Supercars,And watch Lap Record Times Tumble and wins go through the roof,As P.B was amazing in the Torana's and VB,VC,VH,VK,VL Dore's.
And with the New VE V8 Supercar Dore's with there better handling and more grunt and a Young Peter Brock behind the Wheel,im sure Brocky would of left Skaify in his wake.
Brocky is the Bruce Lee of Touring Car Racing,as i use Bruce as a Yardstick in anything Due to How hard and how much he love to train to be the Best at what he did,and was.
Brocky 9 Bathurst Wins proves he the Grandmaster of the Touring Car Racers, and all other Drivers are a Distant Second.
Plus if you met brocky,he was very interested in his fans, and thats why he the Peoples Champ.

I don't know why anyone one would compare the two. They were bot from different eras even though there careers overlaped a bit. One thing is for sure they have been pivotal players in our sport. For all you Skaife bashers out there if you hate Skaifey so much why do you keep bringing him up(get over it). They just love to hate him it seems your only happy when your putting down Skaife, atleast that's what it seems like ;)

BUT they changed the track length by adding the chase in 1987...so you cant compare the times at all...you can even hear the VK's engine flare over the last hump on conrod (and Brocky mentions to lift off as he goes over it, as the car becomes airbourne). The chase was added due to the Death of Mike Burgmann in his Commo in 1986.

I have meet both of these guys over the years at the track and away from it.
And i'am sorry to say but Mark is a drop kick wanker with his knose so far up his arse it isn't funny
I also know people who when to school with him and they have said he is still the same as he was back then and he had very few friends at school too because how he treated people.
