IMO some of these plug welds may not be upto spec when they left B/W.
It may pay to have a pro drill out and re weld them if you are running sticky tyres, trick suspension etc.

Thats what i was thinking....

I was looking at a 08 model Nissan Navara at work the day before i posted that, has the same design diff. I looked at the plug welds and only one on the whole diff was satisfactory. Two the weld wasnt even actually on the axle tube.

I see what you guys mean about more weld not helping though, think i may just drill out and re weld when i get one.

Cheers.

i'm using a BW LSD in my LH, behind a mild injected 5.0L & shift kitted auto. For street driven cars they are excellent, far less weight & mass than a 9 inch. Go for the 28 spline over the earlier 25 spline axles & centre. The centres & gear sets are mostly interchangeable from other makes such as R31 Skylines & Ford Falcons, meaning there are many different ratios to choose from & easily obtained. The BW in my LH started as a VL V8 diff with open wheel 28 spline centre. It runs factory length VL axles, but i have swapped the centre over for a 3.45-1 ratio LSD. It all fits under my un-flared guards & 18 inch wheels clear with only slight rolling of the guard lips. ls2lxhatch is right on the money with his post, the most common weak link is the LSD centres. The cones wear out, especially if you like to rip helis alot. Do this too often & they will wear out & you'll end up with a "peg leg" diff. If you mostly cruise your car with the occasional hard sprint, a BW should give you many years of trouble free driving.

by reading this does that mean that the bw you are using is standard vl v8 width?what sort of offset do you have on your wheels?

i was talking to Matt and he said that the diff was a little to long for the wheels he wanted to run (VYSS rims) and got a bit of rubbing even with the stock chaser rims but would be good for a LH/LX with flares, think he said if he get some custom rims made up it would be good or if he has the diff shortened he could still run the commodore rims, if you PM him he will give you the full run down as he is not shy on sharing his ideas Posted Image
