Id be asking some serious questions to the seller.

As far as im aware, the VT Calipers wont fit LH/LX without any serious mods. I have a set im the shed that i bought off ebay with the same intentions, and i found it was not at all as easy as hes saying.

Maybe Datto could comment if he knows of this kit.

Yes mate as it states in the auction will bolt straight on. We modify the caliper mounts on a CNC mill so there is a bit of work in them done by us to get them on.

what ya recon??

Might be worth asking if the kits he sells are engineer approved, if they are machining the caliper brackets to get them to fit then I would want an engineers opinion on the strength of the material left before I would be fitting them. Who would be liable if the modification caused the caliper to fail?

It sounds like a good price if they are engineer approved and come with the paper work to prove it.

heya
was just chatting tony Edwards who sells them.
was saying that has sold over 1500 pairs to cars that have had to have them to be engineered. Says thats its only a few mm and the old holes they plug.
also he takes a few mm off here and there to make for clearances.
sumthing bout them being done on a CNC mill too makes it good, dunno what a CNC mill is.

I dunno.
seems alwrite.
850 to my door seems alwrite.

dunno what a CNC mill  is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNC

Very accurate machining, e.g. pistols are made with CNC machines out of a block of metal.

Ah good old Mr Spares
I have heard some horror stories but never actually seen any of his gear
I tried emailing him about things before but he never replied

Lil things like this bug me

TO SUIT ALL TORANA'S WITH STANDARD STUB AXLE. A 1" MASTER CYLINDER SHOULD BE FITTED WITH THIS KIT OFF A WB 15/16 WILL DO THE JOB OR WE CAN SUPPLY A MASTER TO FIT YOUR BOOSTER.

Um..... all toranas (cept 4 cyl and late UC) run a 1" originally. So using a WB one is not required. Unless you want to modify the front cannister and pushrod on your booster and delete the inline prop valve. If you went to all that trouble you certainly wouldn't just put a 15/16 commodore one on there
Essentially what it looks like he's doing is buying ex HSV components (I know where from and at what cost) and modding the caliper and having a local shop slot the factory disc

If you want to save $500 please do it..... and let us know the results
If you want an engineered kit from Hoppers for the extra dough, with painted calipers and DBA discs...... thats your choice too

Neil

Still dont know where the calipers bolt up to with this kit, I have the hoppers kit and its got a large caliper adaptor bracket, just cant see how these kits work.

Spend the extra $$ and get a Hoppers kit, you dont need the flash looking slots, thats just pub talk.

I've bought suspension parts off this guy. He was helpful and honest and the work was done to a high standard. I haven't bought any brakes from him but he lives not far from Chopper, maybe he can go and check the brakes out for you.

I could take a spare LH stub axle there to see if it does all bolt up, but that won't guarentee it won't foul on the control arms. If the seller wishes to PM me some details, I can organise an inspection.

If that guy is only in Croydon, I could go there myself, (but i dont have the knowledge of Chopper, i wont really know what to look for) I am only 25min from there! The only last question I would have for him is if he is able to sell the kits with engineer certificates. Getting that is the main factor i believe (they make using different brake setups, legal/illegal).

Okay well this guy appears to have e-mailed the club with a proposal of trial fitting a kit to a vehicle etc, obviously a lot of other people have been wondering how the hell it fits on there.

I was discussing it last night with Darren at the meeting, he's a bit more switched on about this than I am. Chopper, will you be checking that guy out? or will anyone else?
