wondering how people mounted their shifter over the existing hole on top of the trans tunnel?

Did you weld up the origianl hole and then bolt the shifter to that? or did you bolt down a peice of sheet metal to cover the hole and then bolt the shifter to that?

cheers eddie

hehe, my shell was column shift, no hole in the floor, so i hust bolted it down! on my old car the previous owner just tek screwed and silliconed a plate over the hole, I would be welding it. unless you might go back to manual one day.....

if you dont have a mig, I would just bolt and sillicon it.

Hey this is how i mounted mine, cant se beneath the carpet though.
I wanted it slightly more back so it was in reach and i dont have a console either, welded some flat steel just bigger than the base of the ratchet shifter. when i mounted like makka said put silicone on the bolts underneath.

Here ar some pics.

pro ratchet 1

pro ratchet 2

pro ratchet 3

pro ratchet 4

pro ratchet 5

The welded peice starts just on the hump that goes from side to side..
Oh and mine was a column shift so i didnt have the problem of the hole.

Cheers

I am in the same boat but don't want to weld up the hole incase i want to go back to manual i plan on just using sheet metal and bolting it into the current boot holes and silcone it did anyone have any dramas with putting there shifter in? Also what are your oppinions for a street shifter that will occasionally see the drags?

Cheers!!
