Hey all looking at getting some front and rear sway bars for my LH since i have none to start with what brands/kits has anyone used and how would u rate it obviously im looking for thick heavy duty ones ive checked out the brands KMAC and Whiteline who seem to sell complete kits

For the front which is preferred front mount or rear mount i have extractors which may cause clearance issues front end already has the four holes on the rear side of the crossmember and the hole in the control arm for the link pin

Rear i run a nine inch which might cause problems bolting up the swaybar

Car will mainly see strip work

info and any pics greatly appreciated

cheers dennis

Yes, I am using custom brackets on the rear bar to mount it to the diff assembly but the kits do come with everything.

I also have run the same as Howard ^ although we changed early from front mount front to rear mount front.

I prefer selby (now whiteline) for accesories and found that KMac is really all over the shop on quality control.

While i still run their bars, all the mounting hardware is my own.

Cheers A9X

Ive being searching thru some old threads and found this one
http://www.gmh-toran...=sway bar&st=25

It has pics of both Kmac and whiteline im leaning towards whiteline due to im able to source them from pedders may have to suss out the rear the guy who owned the car before me welded some straight tube on the diffhousing for some reason which will prob foul on the swaybar mounts my main problem is my twin 3 inch exhaust goes under the diff

I drop into pedders and have a chat with them

Cheers guys

Why bother for a straight line car?

If you have your exhaust under the diff then you probably with not be able to run the K-MAC or Whiteline front mount rear sway bars. The brackets on the diff will probably foul on the exhaust. The best option if you have exhaust under the diff is the K-MAC rear mount or the factory LX sway bar.

I have the following that I intend to sell at some time.

Rear
LX Factory bar. Bolts to trailing arms
Whiteline decoupled bar. Bolts to diff housing and upper control arm mounts on the body.
K-MAC Rear mount. Bolts to shock mount and rear chassis rails.

Front.
K-MAC front mount adjustable.

why not?

Adds weight, no benefit when driving in a straight line.

Sounds like the car will also go around corners. Sway bars will help with that. If it's like my UC which is drag ONLY, then the sway bars would be a waste.

Car is also a streeter and swaybar can be unbolted when straightline racing if need be

ls2lxhatch thanks for your info ill have a good look at the rear end and see what i can suss out

I bought a Whiteline 22mm front bar for my LJ a couple of years ago from an agent in Perth, got home unpacked it, it was missing 2 "D" bushes & the nuts for clamping to the control rods were metric but the bolts were imperial!!! 1 hour round trip to pick it up, same the next day to get some bushes (i had some nuts to get me out of the shit) NOT HAPPY JAN!! 1 painfully detailed email to Whiteline that got a rapid phone reply & they sent a complete mounting kit soon after. Quality control?? NOT! Frustration?? YES!!!

Stupid thing is i only had it on the car for a bout 2 months then fitted a chassis kit & made some new mounts for the bar but the dip for the extractors (that i didn't need anyway) was just way too low, so i had one made the same shape as an XU1 but with extra mount. No wonder a man drinks!!!
