I did some searching and even though I found some good info, nothing really answer my question.
As part of my resto I replaced both bailey channel rubbers on my UC hatch. The car sat for nearlly 12 months with new rubbers and windows up and it has been almost 12 months (20,000 klms?) driving around using windows.
Here the problems..
-Not sealing (glass) in right angle corner of door frame
-Any operation of window above 50 klm/h sees the window jump out
-Water leaks in when washing
-I'm taking steroids just to wind the bastards up.
And yes I have adjusted this and that, used all kinds of different lubes (that sounds wrong).
I think they were rare spares ones from memory.
I've owned this car for over 18 years and the first time I did the bailey rubbers (1991) it was very smooth sailing. The windows worked, no leaks and no wind noise. Don't remember what rubbers they were.
What is the best bailey channel rubbers and product to lube/install them?
Any help would be good.

Bailey channel rubbers advice please

Sounds more like bent door frames and/or misadjusted windows/regulators than just bailey channel issues. There's no way the window should jump out, and the only way the bailey channel could cause them to be difficult to wind up is if its the wrong one and is too tight (normally the door belt seal is a bigger problem here). Having said that its weird that both doors would exhibit the same problems all of a sudden...

g,day mate ,have you tried removing the window from the regulator and moving the glass up and down by hand ??if it slides up and down with relative ease (and it should) then the bailey rubbers are most likely ok and the regulators or something else has issues !!

Hey Paul,
Guys if you have seen the car then you would realise the amount of work that has gone into it.
This is one thing that scared me when removing the factory rubbers.
It sounds like to me that the rubbers are crap if they are leaking when you wash the car etc.
On the stiffness, have you actually lubed the winder mech?
Can't recommend anyone but if you are not close to anyone maybe speak to les from rares in their forum section or via pm to send you a sample of what's available.
If you would like I may be able to chase some local suppliers, there is a place in penrith area and rares at homebush.

Hi, I know it won't help, but I feel your pain. I had the exact same problem with a Kingswood that I changed front doors (old ones were rusty) and I put new seals in when I had the car resprayed in the early 90's. Super annoying it was as well, cause the windows wouldn't pop out in the driveway, only while you were driving. Hopefully the paint on the door isn't being scratched off when the windows pop out like what happened to me. Not a good look, as the doors were originally aquamarine, and the car was painted red. The bad news is, that I adjusted everything, lubed everything and the problem existed until I sold the car, although happened a whole lot less when the seals wore in a bit (I sold the car about 5years after it was painted). Good luck!
