I intend on starting my 330 stroker tommorrow and rather than have all the crap from the block dislodge itself and get caught up in my new 4row radiator, I'm wondering where I can get a coolant filter, I happened to be in Autobarn and they looked at me stupid but ive seen them before, its like a big fuel filter u use it inline and you can pull out the middle for cleaning. Any help would be great or I might try east coast tomoro
Cheers, brad

I have one on my XU1 and it will be the best investment that you make this early in the year. Not sure of the price

The Tefba filter is easier to service but it is a bit industrial looking.
There was a guy on eBay selling a billet version of the Tefba filter briefly last year. Not sure what happened to him.

Ahh cool thanks all for the help, I did kill a rad from an init startup on my 202, must have had heaps of crud in it (the rad was on its way out but that was the nail in the coffin). So yea am hoping that something like this will protect my shiny new radiator, if I buy something it will be tomoro while its at the exhaust shop, many thanks
For many many years I have used pantyhose at the top red hose/rad inlet on all my older cars. It is very robust, free from the missus and collects a suprising amount of crud including small bits of casting sand even though the block has been in service for more than a decade.
Its fine mesh size is a significant improvement over the filter sock which I tried many years ago.
There is no effect on flow or system cooling ability.

The only thing with using panties is you cant leave them in there to long.....they stretch....and end up in your thermostat.....i learned the hard way.
Cheers.
Cut them short and use the heavy duty opaque type and they will last several years. I usually change them over every couple of years with the regular coolant flush.
Never had a problem. None have ever developed a hole either.

Digging up an old thread for some info , I see piquet (above post) had fitted one to his XU1 , I presume this is the tefba filter ?
Anyway looking for information on how the tefba filter is fitted to the 6 banger which I,m having trouble getting the right bends in the top radiator hose as there is very little room..
Has anyone done this ? and share to offer advise please .

thanks for pic datpsi , yep they are good , I,m using one on the v8 torana and works well so I thought I,d do the same on the 6 cyl torana .
I,m using the standard 6 cylinder torana radiator which is narrower than your alloy rad . much closer , filler neck is inline with your third clamp.
tried to see what other 1.25 in hoses from other cars to cut down to fit

Dave , yep I like the idea of been able to quickly clean the crap out rather than taking off the hose and cleaning the sock, much easier between runs at the racetrack. once a new engine has been run a dozen times you can replace hose with out the canister . its amazing how quick you can block a radiator with a new or fresh engine !
Anyway finally fitted to the LJ by utilising an early model laser/mazda 323 lower hose which has a sharper 90 degree bend , also trimmed the necks a touch. good end result .
