Howdy, can anyony help me with the standard drum to drum diff length for the LH/LX torrie. will i be able to run a 15 x 8.5 Convo pro rim with 3 3/8 bs on the back if 9in diff is a standard Torrie length or will it only fit a shortened diff

i have access to a couple 9 inch housings of varying lengths available.
will be running F100 H/D housing with 31 spline billet with full spool 4.11 gears for racing and my second centre is a 3.55 31 spline lsd for the street.

cheers Jake

Hey Jake,

Mine is a 9 inch shortened to standard torana diff length and it measures 1450 drum to drum and I can't fit 15 x 8.5's convos with 245/60 (5 inch backspace) and no flares. If you have flares it's probably a different story.
You'll need roughly another 1.5 inches off either side of the diff around 1380ish and some inner gaurd "massaging" to fit this size wheel and decent tyres so even more if you have 3 3/8's with a bigger dish. This is of course if you still want full travel on the rear suspension.
By the way, I'm after a shorter diff myself for the very same reason so I'm speaking from experience!

And if you plan to run disc rear on a short diff
Make sure whoever makes the diff puts the shock mountings in a place that allows the caliper and backing plate to fit

best backspace on a standard length diff with a decent tyre will be 4 1/2 backspace without flares on a 8 inch rim and 245 tyres ,if u want more put flares on and if u want to keep it flareless u will have to shorten the diff and trim the dog legs, and move the lower shock bracket inwards and roll the lips .......
