Hi guys,
I was looking for an engine stand for my 308 so i went to supercheap and brought the largest one they had (560kgs..... $189)
Got it home put it together tightened everything up and put the 308 on it.
Even with just the block i noticed and huge amount of leaning on the stand but thought it was normal so put on heads and manifold, Now it looks to me like it wants to snap and is impossible to turn over as the way the engine leans forward make it too hard.
Even with just the block it was quite hard to turn......
If you just touch the engine it bounces very slightly on the stand for ages,
Should i take it back??? or is this normal?
Cheers Brad

That pole that holds the engine was straight before the engine went on.

That doesn't look right!
Can you reverse the upright?

I have my 308 [complete] on a stupidcheap stand. It is still diffficult to roll it, but it doesn't look like that!

Doesnt look normal to me and I dont even have an engine stand. I wouldnt have thought there would be so much lean. Doesnt look like there is much bracing of the main pole either, just a bracket and a couple of bolts.

I got one that looks similar from rare spares, doesn't bow that much at all.Annoying thing I found was that it didn't bolt up properly to turbo pattern blocks...had to modify it a bit & get different bolts.

Are you sure the upright doesn't just go on the other way around? It would normally have some lean backward to make up for flex with the weight on it.

I have one of the cheapie versions rated at 340kg or so, I've hung plenty off it and it has been fine. Its not perfectly straight but welds and steel are up to the task.

I'll go and check it now......i currently have it supported with my engine crane

Just checked it and the pole is the same on both sides, exactly the same? even double checked it with the tape measure? i have had a look through the instructions and it doesnt mention anything on there?
Maybe i should send an e-mail to super cheap with the picture?
Cheers Brad

That support pole is the same on both sides, the back is the same as the front

The angle is on both sides? If you pulled it off it looks the exact same at the bottom.
2 angles 1 each side

Turn the vertical post around so it's angling backward.

So without the engine on the upright is perpendicular?

It is a bit of a strange design as there's not much at the bottom of the upright to support the weight, most would have the front wheels attached to a single centre support so the base is an H pattern rather than an open square.

Everything from supercheap auto is junk! Everything.. and its also now one of the most expensive places to go.

I always keep my recipt when i shop there, iv been through a couple of orbital sanders haha, as long as they keep breaking ill keep bringing it back. There own fault for selling inferior products. The amount of stuff I have had to refund is unreal.

Looking at that is like watching a trip to spinal rehab unfold
Take it back and wrap it round their ears
The whole weight of the motor is flexing against that 1 weld. -- which was probably done by a 10 year old in a sweat shop wearing thongs
I would personaly get that off the stand before it ends in tears - or hospital

(Cant believe these company's get away with this type of sh*t)

I agree with you 120%
Im worried that some one out there will buy one and have it fall on them!
Imagine the damage it would do to your foot.
Super cheap i must admit were pretty kool with me bring it back although i would hate to see one collapse on some one.

For $189 clams i wasnt expecting it to bend like that, but i agree alot of their stuff now is crap and expensive!
