here is some weights that may interest some of you,
v8 m21 gearbox, lh bellhousing, Lh shifter..= 48kg
c/r toploader, dellow bellhousing, hurst shifter..= 58kg
Lh banjo 3.36 lsd, hq brakes, 1tonner axles (L34)..=68kg
Lh 9" 3.50 lsd 28spline, A9x disc brake setup..=107kg
so i have lost 49kg just there in the L34. not to mention the 3" heavy wall tailshaft and the hydralic clutch setup, i think i should notice the difference.

Wow, there's a great reason not to go 9 inch!
Were all of those weights with or without oil?

plus the extra 10kg from the gearbox = 49kg107 kg - 68 kg = 39 kg
no oil in all of them.
weighed out of vehicle on a large set of scales used for weighing fish bins 200kg and very accurate.

Thanks for sharing, very interesting to see it all on paper. The mass difference of the diff is INSANE, even just proportionally it is an unbelievable change. When I think about altering unsprung masses, I don't even consider 40kg as a possibility LOL
Now we need to know what an R31 housing, with an LSD centre and Commodore disc setups weighs

My sheet metal 9 inch with 35 spline billet axles and VN brakes no center weights in at 61.4 kg. That was on digital scales. How heavy would a standard 9 inch 28 spline LSD center weigh ?

About 37 to 40kgs is close.

It would be easier to compare diff weight if you could weigh the diff without brakes and backing plates or weight the brakes and backing plates separately.
Some components I weighed a couple of years ago. The diff that weighed 70.5 kg was the same but with shortened stock axles which were significantly larger diameter than the Moser axles.
Stock LSD centre 32 Kg
Moser axles. Short 7 kg. Long 7.5 kg
Stock style housing suit LX 22 kg
Total 68.5
Some unconfirmed weights from Strange Engineering.
Strange Pro Iron case with Detroit Truetrac centre 32 Kg
Strange S-Series case with Detroit Truetrac centre 28.6 Kg
Strange Aluminium case with Detroit Truetrac centre 23 Kg
The aluminium case would bring it down to 59.5 kg which makes the banjo look like an overweight weakling
