Hey guys, I got a coffee pot from another car that I want to use but I dont have the key for it... I got a new ignition barrel but need to remove the old one but its stuck in the "lock" position...
So yea is there anyway to do it? Should I just smash a screwdriver into the barrel?

I would be trying old worn out keys before just trying to use brute force, but I can't guarantee that will work, I've never had to do it without the key.

You might try removing steering wheel where there should be a spring loaded clip (( either black or grey )) try pushing this in and ignition barrel is then able to be pulled out... Hope I'm on the right track & also this is of help to you...

^ Yeah I think he's aware of that much but when you put that little clip in, you're supposed to have the ignition key in the barrel to allow it to be released. I don't know if you can just 'force' it or if it's an impossibility

This don't require the key in to remove barrel, So many holdens were stollen this way, only they used a panelbeaters slide hammer screwed into barrell and a couple of pulls removed barrel, then it's just a matter of long nosed pliers to turn the ignition cam... The early spring loaded clips were black plastic, then they caught on & changed to the grey alloy, which didn't help much.. I used to work for thu general, & never stollen a car in my life, but sure had to fix a few hq's etc. with same problem..

as said before use old keys and try filling different grooves in. barrel has to be in accessory position then push the clip. or pliers on butterfly and turn it back pushing in, some times works not always depends on how worn barrel is. some times easier to just change the column over. cos even if you get the old barrel out they never the same when you put the new one in, they are a bit of a crap design really putting the switch down in side the column so you cant get to it lol.
