Replica Marlboro HDT Hatch

Just stumbled across a discussion on Hatches flared or not and it struck a chord with me.
When I purchased my hatch ,some 5-6years ago I planned to build a HDT Brock replica ,flares wheels warpaint etc. But alas I could not do it!!
Yes mine is only an SL and not an SS but in my eyes could not be chopped up because it was a very original old car in very good nick.
It's funny I started buying bits n pieces to go ahead with the plan but the more I looked at it the less I wanted to chop it up.
Don't get me wrong I would love nothing more than a big beast with flares and big rubber but what I have is rare in my eyes. You don't see too many original old cars these days ??Where did they go ??
Anyway this is where you can help me !!
I know there has to be more than a few other people that had my dream and went ahead with it.
Could you please post up some pics of what I am missing out on ?? Was it worth the effort ?? Does it draw too much attention ?? And can I Have it ?? (Just kiddin)
It's funny I nearly bought A Brock HDT Replica from Melbourne at the same time I purchased my car ,at the time it was about $8000 and I thought geez what a ripoff (DOHHH!) If only you could see into the future. After building my car and what it has cost me , $8 g's would have been an absolute Bargain !!
Can anyone help me ???

From what i was told by a third party, the owner sought permission to build a replica, & did.
Edit: I should have said Wilbelton? lol

Its close, marlboro is a little small though
Wow..that didn't even cross my mind about getting permission to build one.
I have seen a couple of others about as well.
I remember 2 at the 1st muscle car masters , one which was a very good example and another which was just painted with no Stickers.Have seen pics of one I am pretty sure up on the central coast I think.A full sized sticker set for a HDT Replica recently sold on ebay for around $1000, was tempting and would have been a step closer but I never bid.
I would love to know if people enjoy driving them around or are they constantly getting hassled by police or people having a sticky Beak.
Thanks again for posting the pics Col.

yeah but if youre going to the trouble to do it why not do it right and go to the extra effort to actually make it 100% right? small attention to detail is what makes or breaks most cars...especially when you are copying a very well known car.ffs......IT'S A REPLICA!
It's not the real thing!
I dont want it to seem like im bagging the car coz im not, im simply stating a fact that the font isnt correct.

Not much point is spending 30+K building an exact replica, only to be sued 1M+ by the sponsors for copyright infringements!
Our local Holden club sought permission from GMH to use the roaring lion on our club letterhead. The request was denied!

hey Col
were they asking for permission for the current logo or the old one?
You have buckleys getting permissionto you use the current logo but you should be able to get permission to use the older logos.
cheers

If memory serves me correct, we had to change the outer ring/ or delete it. Something like that.

Couldn't do it to my SL 6Cyl either. I dream of the V8 A9X thing..... couldn't chop up my car. I have even kept the venetions on the rear window, inside ones not outside. Glad to hear you enjoy your Grandpa machine as much as I do. They are great cars in any form. Rock on the "Super Luxuary" Hatches.
Cheers, Craig
Craig,
With yours having been a NZ car. They needed venetions to stop others from becoming jealous of the sheepish activities in the back.
