You can't go wrong with either MSD or ICE stuff.... both high quality items in my opinion.

Personally I prefer the ICE gear... deal local with Michael himself. You can buy his systems now with the 2-step rev limiter built in too (and it's controlled by push-buttons - no pills). Can also have adjustable timing curves setup via a dial too.....

Having said that.... all these big dollar ignition systems are over-rated a little bit I think (Well at least for mild engines). A plain-jane Bosch HEI dizzy, in good nick and curved up to suit your donk, with a Bosch HEI coil, will still go great. You're not gonna whack on a new fancy ignition system and suddenly run half a second faster or anything - unless the old ignition system had big problems of course.

Rev limiters are fantastic though!

i and others i know have had very little success with msd.weve proven a msd coil to be inferior to a standard bosch one on the dyno.we were getting ignition breakdown at around 5600rpm with the msd on a turbo 302 windsor and a poxy standard boschwe took from a 6 cyl el falcon went to 6500 before any drama...if the funds are available id be going with ice.

I'm looking at ICE as well - I take it there is no noticeable difference between the 6A 6802MC and 7A 7802MC then for a mild 308?

Yep long term savings in that case is a smart move, sounds good.

Bought mine too long ago to remember prices. It wasn't cheap though. I have 2 separate units - the Compu-Curve box, and the 2 step limiter... these days I believe they are both integrated into a single unit. If you go the full kit, you can also get dizzy, coil, and leads... give him a buzz and find out current prices, and let us know for interests sake!

Michaels stuff isnt cheap but everything I have bought over a 12 yr period has worked perfectly which cannot be said for at least one other big name supplier I have used. His record in the usa in recent years speaks for itself.
I very recently bought a new set of leads for the BBC in the ute from michael and the quality is top notch.
