Ahh they're shithouse anyway, just go and get the choke cable clamp off a standard 1bbl Strommie choke bracket, (you can cut one end off of it to make it look a bit neater) and enlarge the hole a little with a drill bit until the little screw and nut fit through there, then you can easily adjust the position, and it looks nicer, doesn't have a chance of snapping etc.

Yep and put your cable in the middle of the clip (raised section). They fit pretty easily.

Hmm well doesnt for me... I put it in the round hole first, and ive got the cable running in the groove but I cant get the rectangle bit to clip in...

Pushed down on it as hard as I can by hand, Tried tapping it with a hammer, tried levering it with a screwdriver (which snapped one of the clips)

I ended up using a cable tie, the end of the cable tie is underneath and out of sight so it actually looks quite neat....

I think Josh is right you have the clip upside down. I have photoshopped it rotated 180 degrees.

cant possibly go that way, the end is long and thin (and fits into the small round hole) other end is wide and wouldnt fit into that small round hole.. If I had a decent camera I could show ya

I had a look at the parts manual and can see that you had it the right way up.

The LH and LX manuals also show the round bonnet release knob we were discussing today.

Sorry Clint but you cant seriously expect a cable tie to hold the outer cable of a bonnet release reliably can you???

Old Holden bonnets are hard enough to pop as it is, often a 2 person job, let alone having a cable tie thrown in the mix....

Cheers.

Yep thats exactly how Ive tried it... I got a brand new bonnet cable from rare spares... it seems to have a larger Outside diameter then the Stock one... I wonder if this is causing issues

The outer cable is solid mounted to the bracket under the dash, you only pull on the inner cable... Maybe Lc/Lj's are different?

Usually they're ok but as you've found sometimes those clips just won't go in no matter how much force you apply. Mine's been cable tied as a temporary measure for around 10 months now with no problems, the outer sheath does indeed need to be secure here but cable ties will do anything! I'll fix it one day...

It looks to me like viper's has a plastic sleeve over it and the other one pictured doesn't.
Surely that's the reason he can't fit the clip?
Maybe there are 2 different clips as I think UC had this plastic sleeve and others didn't?
Maybe find where your cable should sit when it is properly adjusted and using a razor blade, cut that portion of sleeve off where the clip fits?

Just had a look, yes the end needs to be supported, with that nice bend in the outer cable whats stopping it from moving backwards and fowards?

I'll butt out now.

Cheers.

My cable has a rubber outer too, but it's not just a sleeve over the whole lot. It's not a particularly large diameter.

hit with a hammer?
it's frocked now chrome or no shiny chrome
you sure it's a torrie one?
these are a press on fit but not when you remove your old ones as they tend to break easy
do what heath says probaly be a more relible thing in the long run

Nope, LC/LJ are the same. Only the inner wire moves. The outer casing needs to be secure or you will encounter problems opening the hood. Looks like the same clip as LC/LJ.
I reckon Rodomo is right, you need to remove the rubber/vinyl sheath to reduce the overall diameter so the clip will lock into the slot.
